There is so much latent need for low-cost, non-alcoholic, non-digital, in-person interaction.

BREAKING: 50 Jewish New Yorkers were just arrested disrupting @POTUS appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers at NBC’s Famed 30 Rockefeller Center calling on President Biden to stop supporting the Israeli government’s genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. #LetGazaLive

Yesterday I took a break from canvassing to help lead a Kidical Mass ride from Berkeley to Emeryville. Families want safer communities and investing in our children and youth is one of the most important things we can do to build community and strengthen safety. #SupportYouth

I could probably talk for 30 minutes without prep about anything; the better question is what could I listen to someone else talk about for 30 minutes? Here's a list that looks good to me!
What are five topics you can talk about for 30 minutes with zero prep ? 1. Shropshire/ Welsh Marches folklore 👻 2. The Welsh history of the Marches alongside its Bardic compositions🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 3. Hafren, Goddess of the River Severn 🌊 4. Tasseomncy ☕️ 5. Folk Witchcraft 🧙‍♀️

The night was cold and dark. “Listen to the wind howling in the trees,” said Frog. “What a fine time for a ghost story.” Toad moved deeper into his chair.

The most important thing about this amazing Paris transformation is how fast it happened —how fast people on bikes “appeared” —once streets were transformed. You can’t write this off as “#Paris was always this way,” because it wasn’t. It took leadership.

The problem of too many cars isn’t just about the tailpipe. And altho EVs seemingly address that issue (or “move” it, depending on the electricity source), their increased weight, and the potential increase in size & distance driven (due to #JevonsParadox) make EVs “complicated.”

The new cover of Bicycling is so good. That brand has resolutely stood for something in the past few years and I'm proud to consider myself an alumnus.

What if each school had a "no drive" radius; only families living outside of the radius would be issued a "drop-off pass" & would be allowed to drop off at school? Probably not practical but just to get the thoughts rolling for deeply discouraging unnecessary driving.

I realize this wouldn't solve the situation in this story with a scofflaw parent already dropping kids in a no-dropoff zone, but it might reduce the chaos.

Perhaps the best thing anyone honouring the life, and passing, of #SineadOConnor could do, is be willing to speak truth to power. Even when it costs you. Especially when it costs you. #RIP

There is so much food for thought in this thread and comments. As a teacher, as a parent, as a partner, as a human trying to make the world better in any/all ways I can, I'm constantly trying to understand motivation.
Hey, you -- yeah, with the ADHD and the cool projects! You know how all of those projects are, like, 80% done? And how you can't figure out how to get them over the line? And how frustrating that is? The following thread contains an infohazard, proceed at your peril! ;)

In the face of ecological crisis, the world-historical task of the working classes and social movements is to reclaim democratic control over production and organize it around human well-being, ecology, and decolonization.
