Beautiful celebration at St John Bosco Parish.
The Missionary Sisters of Mary Help of Christians celebrated 25 years (and two days 😅) in Eswatini and the continent as we were their very first presence in Africa.

The future of #ArtificialIntelligence is not pre-determined. As a technology developed by human beings, its future depends on the choices we make. We therefore have the responsibility to guide, change and, when necessary, reject its applications. A reliable system that serves the human person is of greater value than one that is exceptionally powerful but whose consequences cannot be adequately foreseen or controlled.

Sister Nancy CONFRONTS JD Vance Over ICE’s Treatment of Immigrant Families — His Response Sparks Pushback
Speaker: We have a voter here tonight, Sister Nancy Sylvester, from the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Sister Nancy, she has a question for you.
Sister Nancy Sylvester: Mr. Vice President, our sisters work at the southern border and here around Detroit.
They see families affected by immigration policies and children separated from their parents, sometimes without warning. They witness the fear and trauma caused by ICE’s actions.
We understand this is a complex issue, but what pains us is how these policies are being implemented. We share the same faith, so how would you justify ICE’s behaviour to people who try to follow the Gospel?
And what policies would you support to ensure immigrants are treated with greater compassion and respect?
JD Vance: Sister Nancy, I appreciate you, and I hope I’ll be in your prayers, as you’ll certainly be in mine.
We’re trying to strike the right balance. When approximately 25 million undocumented immigrants have entered the country over the past 30 years, many unchecked and unvetted,
we have to enforce the law humanely without doing so little that we empower some of the worst people in the world.
Speaker: Are you striking that balance?
JD Vance: I think it’s constantly a work in progress. We’ve increased training protocols because, while most ICE officers are good people who want to protect their country, some make mistakes.
When they do, we have a responsibility to investigate and prosecute where appropriate.
Speaker: What mistakes come to mind? We’ve all seen incidents online, but I haven’t heard you speak about the biggest mistakes in ICE policy and its rollout.
JD Vance: There have been cases where we’ve conducted investigations, provided additional training, or taken disciplinary action. We don’t always publicise those cases because people should be judged through a proper investigative process.
But we also have to remember what happened over the last five years, including drug cartels trafficking children and the fentanyl trade that killed so many people in Michigan.
We wake up every day trying to balance law enforcement with humane enforcement. ICE won’t get everything right, but I believe its officers have, by and large, done a good job. Where people have made serious mistakes, they should face consequences.

UNAIDS congratulates former Executive Director Peter Piot, Professor of Global Health at the London School of Hygiene amp; Tropical Medicine, on being awarded the 2026 Virchow Prize for Global Health, alongside Jean-Jacques Muyembe-Tamfum.
Peter Piot’s pioneering work in infectious disease research and his leadership in the global response to HIV have helped shape global health and advance international cooperation.
His contributions remind us of what science, sustained political commitment and collaboration can achieve in responding to health challenges.
As the world works to strengthen health systems and prepare for future pandemics, the lessons of the HIV response remain vital: invest in science, sustain global cooperation and ensure that progress reaches everyone.

How squeamish we are in this new geopolitical kitchen. How easily some of us choose sides against our own country.
Last year, when Ebrahim Rasool got expelled because he said the Trump administration was mobilizing white victimhood (a decision I endorsed), some of you were quick to point out the correct place and decorum of am ambassador.
Now, many of those same voices have changed to defending the ambassador, all based on "asks" that should at best be debated. See the pattern?
Speaking of patterns, have a look at this list of ambassadors openly criticizing their host countries, in breach of diplomatic protocols, and against the strong objection from those countries:
L. Brent Bozell III — United States ambassador to South Africa
Charles Kushner — United States ambassador to France
Tom Rose — United States ambassador to Poland
Pete Hoekstra — United States ambassador to Canada
Brandon Judd — United States ambassador to Chile
Bill White — United States ambassador to Belgium
See the pattern?
For many of you, your breathless indignation and your stated concern for the welfare of the country is little more than a thinly veiled, and terribly transparent, mask to hide your prejudice and your selfishness. If you want to improve the country, and by God we need so much if that, do it from this side of the fence.
If you are sincere about this, as most of you are, stop basing your decisions on fear and sophisticated hate campaigns that use you as gun fodder. Fight for your country without being gullible, without oversimplification, without doing further damage

Impressive but lifeless, dazzling but closed to the transcendent. AI art lacks individuality, which is surely proof it is not conscious. It has quiddity (whatness) in abundance, but lacks haeccity (thisness).

Remember in high school when you would forget to do your assignment, or you just didn't do it because you were the most popular kid in class and your father built the school gym and your mom is on the SGB?
Then one day the assignment you didn't do was the most important one and you'd fail for not doing it? So you start it 5 minutes before class, but then the bell rings, your pen stops producing ink and your stomach needs to be emptied right away? So you fail to submit. You tell the principal that you are the elite son of a legend and they laugh at you and tell you to go back to class because you failed?
The ANC.
You are the ANC losing a court battle after missing a candidate list submission deadline.
Now you're crying in the school bathroom, frothing at the mouth about who your daddy is.
Anyway, let me go submit my business school assignment.

40 years ago today, I was very heavily pregnant with my sixth child. We had just bought a small business on Burnt Ash Hill, just around the corner from where we lived. It was a Londis, and I thought I still had a couple of weeks before my baby was due.
However, on the Monday, our first day of opening, I went into labour that evening and, at about 9pm, our beautiful little baby girl came into this world.
She was a little floppy, but I didn’t take much notice of it at the time. What made her birth even more special was that she was born on Our Lady’s birthday.
I’ll never forget the next morning. Five doctors came walking up the ward and ended up at my bed. The first thing that was said to me was, “Mummy, I think you know what I’m going to say. Your baby has Down syndrome.”
Well, quite honestly, I didn’t know. As you can imagine, it was a shock. I remember holding my sweet Samantha tightly and praying to Our Lady, asking her to please help me be a good mummy to this precious baby. I promised that I would always care for her with all my heart, and I always will.
Of course, life isn’t always easy, as I know only too well. Samantha has her strange ideas at times, especially when it comes to her food and drink! She absolutely adores her day centre and all her friends there, and she has a few health issues too.
But this 40-year-old woman, who could easily be mistaken for 12, comes into my bedroom every night, kisses me goodnight many times, tucks me up in bed and makes me feel loved.
And that is something truly special.
So today, my darling Samantha, have the most wonderful 40th birthday. I will always take care of you and love you with all my heart.
God bless you, darling. ❤️

Corporate South Africa socialised an entire generation into believing it was perfectly normal for a man to vanish from his family for 11 months of the year, buried in the mines and/or factories, only to reappear once during the festive season like a seasonal visitor.
Hostels in our townships were not just accommodation, they were the official infrastructure for this system: Warehouses for full-time workers and part-time fathers.
They deliberately engineered absent fathers and now we act shocked at the statistics.
Embracing fatherhood may never be easy for those who grew up without fathers. Many still think just providing money is the only role a father has to play.
May we become the generation that will change the narrative. 🇿🇦🙏🏾
