I'm cozying up in the storm and reading with a cuppa. βοΈ
Bring back the 'Fireside Issue'! π₯
Armchair theatre... A cosy "Fireside Issue" of @RadioTimes from 50 years ago. The clever, Droste effect or mise en abyme illustration comes from the pen of Peter Brookes.
A pair of chocolate dolls from 1923 - found in a drawer by auctioneer - Charles Hanson.
Truly May Morrison window display worthy! πͺπ«
Anthony Newley *klaxon*.
I can't understand why he isn't so much more lauded.
The songs he wrote alone!
Six-part series The Strange World of Gurney Slade began on ITV #OTD in 1960. @networktweets released a fabulous Blu-ray of the show in 2020. @RadioTimes
Happy birthday, homeboy π₯³

I don't know about you, but I would have tuned in to a show called SLEEPING ROUGH WITH DIANA DORS.
Why don't Radio Times covers look like this now?
They are like unique pieces of art.
Pulp fiction...
The Singing Detective is being shown, with a new introduction by Janet Suzman, from tonight at 10pm on BBC Four. Here's the beautiful original @RadioTimes cover illustration by Mark Thomas.
The BBC has put the amazing 'The Living and the Dead' front and centre on Iplayer.
It's so folk horror and so Thomas Hardy- esque. It's everything!
Don't miss it, ghouls! π»

I've waited a long time to own this edition of this legendary book.
It's just so beautiful and has arrived at the perfect time. π»π
I've been rewatching Taboo this week. Last episode tonight. π©
Everything about it is perfect. The utter darkness of its soul speaks to me. In my opinion, besides Dickensian, it's the best period piece the BBC have ever done.
Thank God Series 2 is ready to be filmed. π¬
I'd love to own this copy of Famous Monsters. The Curse of the Demon cover. ππ
My dad remembers the day he bought it with his friends. (Sadly lost now).
Would make an amazing poster or tee. π€
Today's book post is a special one. I've been looking for this for years. π
'Making Clowns, Witches and Dragons' by Barbara Snook.
Published in 1967 - and never reprinted to my knowledge.
It's just so lovely.
