Congratulations to my former boss, the former U.S. Senator from Florida, and now the 72nd U.S. Secretary of State! Those of us who served on your original Senate staff are incredibly proud. Congratulations and best wishes Secretary @marcorubio.

Consumer sentiment is near historic lows, yet the economy grew 2.2% in Q2 and underlying domestic demand rose 4.6%. Don’t confuse public pessimism with economic reality. Look at business investment, earnings and jobs. The fundamentals will tell you the real story.

“Beneath our feet is one of the most remarkable critical mineral deposits in North America.”
From a single Nebraska orebody, we plan to produce eight critical mineral products, with processing right here at Elk Creek.
As Mark Smith said at last week's event: “That's rare anywhere in the world, and it's exactly what America needs today.” 🇺🇸
Thank you @ENERGY @SecretaryWright, @JJovanovicUSA, @TeamPillen, @SenatorFischer, @SenatorRicketts and @RepAdrianSmith for joining us at Elk Creek.
And thank you @EximBankUS for your continued work with NioCorp as we move this important American project forward.

This piece by @continetti is so spot on. It’s a must read.
Want the world to be more affordable? Follow Volcker and Reagan. Tighten credit until inflation is below the Federal Reserve’s 2% target. Cut spending, taxes and regulations and grow the supply of goods and services. Restore deterrence and freedom of navigation in the Middle East. And remain steadfast in the face of economic and political trouble.

After-tax take-home income is still up $2,000 under Trump.
Inflation remains elevated, but when you account for the Trump tax cuts, most middle-income families are still seeing gains in real purchasing power.
At this point in Biden’s presidency, real wages were DOWN nearly 5%.

Milton Friedman backs Amendment 3!
Milton Friedman:
“In the long run, government will spend whatever the tax system will raise, plus as much more as it can get away with. That’s what history tells us.”
“So my view has always been: cut taxes on any occasion, for any reason, in any way that’s politically feasible, as the only way to keep down the size of government.”

*THIS* post perfectly encapsulates the decadence and degeneracy of the contemporary US foreign policy establishment. In this view, a US Secretary of State is only *supposed* to travel to NATO capitals because a successful US foreign policy is what makes diplomatic counterparts in Paris, Berlin, and Brussels raise a champagne toast to “shared values” while flinging open their borders, destroying their economies, and apologizing for Western civilization. God forbid a US Secretary of State show his face in Bogotá, Quito, or Lima because that’s where mere “Assistant Secretaries” are supposed to tread. This smug approach led not only to predictably catastrophic results in the Western Hemisphere but also in Europe itself, where the combination of moral vanity and strategic incoherence also proved toxic. But sure: keep holding your academic seminars, writing your unread articles, awarding each other meaningless prizes, and looking down your noses at Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.
Secretaries of State travel the world, to our biggest allies and to address the most pressing issues. But Marco Rubio does neither. His solo travels take him where assistant secretaries go. Rarely the boss. open.substack.com/pub/ivodaa…

Abdul El-Sayed’s mom raised money for Osama bin Laden.
His father was in the Muslim Brotherhood and his sister was on the terror watch list.
There is nothing Islamophobic about calling this out.

BREAKING: Detroit News gives the debate win to Mike Rogers.
Under pressure, El-Sayed smirked and swaggered, but still wouldn't answer questions that would have given voters a clearer view of what sort of senator he would make.

El secretario de Estado, Marco Rubio, se reúne con Dinorah Figuera, presidenta de la Asamblea Nacional de Venezuela de 2015.

THIS JUST IN: Secretary of State Marco Rubio just sent a clear message about the #Venezuela political transition talks between the opposition delegation headed by 2015 elected assembly leader Dinorah Figuera and the regime now led by Delcy Rodriguez: Figuera's team has "100% support from the highest levels of the US government” to pursue those talks.
The US-backed talks will continue on Oct. 14, Rubio said, alternating between English and Spanish. He added that “without any doubt, this needs to end in free and democratic elections,” and that Venezuela needs a return to democracy “as quickly as possible."
Rubio spoke alongside Figuera at the 7th floor State Department Treaty room in a traditional camera spray -- a setting where he almost NEVER responds to shouted questions from the press. Appears he wanted to deliver a very intentional message here.

RIP, Coach Ditka. Iron Mike Ditka remains an icon. His 1985 championship pedigree with the Chicago Bears was epic. His persona, toughness, comedic ability, an bluntness are legendary. One of his best lines is worth repeating: “Success isn’t permanent, and failure isn’t fatal.” Condolences to all who loved him.

Abdul El-Sayed is entirely unfit to serve in the U.S. Senate, not because of his name or religion, but because of his deeply troubling, anti-American views.
I am a Democrat who very much wants our party to regain control of the House and Senate.
But embracing toxic bigots like El-Sayed, Darializa Chevalier, and Zohran Mamdani will do far more damage to our party and its electoral prospects than any political advantage we might gain from embracing them.
