Here’s a 30 second sound bite that shares your opposite view, the pros of Vertical Integration in technology: open.spotify.com/episode/1Ty… Almost all blockchains need core Web3 primitives to operate and be more expressive, from VMs, to Oracles, cross-chain comms, DA and primitives such as decentralized treasuries, and native network owned DeFi — but right now these services are rarely bundled together. Supra is doing this. We are a single network and an instantiation of full vertical integration. It’s a lot harder to do, yes, but it isn’t mid curve, it’s actually genius and an eventuality. Aptos is rolling out their own onchain randomness, Sui their own bridge and storage layer, Supra all of the above and more. Moreover, the benefits are shared security, lower latency, and cheaper — due to a single token model, instead of fracturing value across 5-7 different protocol coins. Yes, going deeper on one thing only is well and good, but for those that can, they should vertically integrate for a competitive edge. Supra’s consensus algo out perform’s Solana’s. Supra’s Oracle algo (DORA) outperforms Pyth’s. Supra’s cross-chain communication protocol is better than all the rest too because it preserves L1 to L1 cryptographic security for the first time ever. Yes, vertical integration isn’t as powerful if the individual components are not better, but what if they are? Then there’s a huge competitive advantage and nothing mid curve about that… P.s. to mitigate MEV, randomize tx execution and apply localized fee markets to mitigate spam.
