We are excited to share our latest work, in which we used human PSCs to build human “biological pacemaker” organoids that model the structure and function of the sinoatrial node. This provides a new platform to study pacemaker development, disease mechanisms and drug testing.

Our study on rare immune cell networks in liver cholangitis is now online! Using single-cell and spatial omics to investigate portal immune cell dynamics, we discovered a triad of cholangiocytes, dendritic cells and gdT cells regulating disease response. rdcu.be/fc60M

Excited to share our new paper “Spatiotemporal dynamics of the cardioimmune niche during lesion repair” just published in Nature Cardiovascular Research! nature.com/articles/s44161-0…

This massive project was led by my excellent postdoc @ChanAndyson. This work would not have been possible without all our fantastic collaborators, in particular the groups of Peter Kohl and Franziska Schneider-Warme who provided essential experimental in vivo methods.

We also built an Shinyapp interface that allows everyone to access our single cell and spatial datasets easily: wuesi.medizin.uni-wuerzburg.… We envision our datasets will serve as a resource will provide insights for the cardiac and regeneration/fibrosis fields in the future!

New preprint from the lab! Using multiplexed spatial analysis and single-cell multiomics, we resolved the portal liver immune niche and identified crosstalk between cholangiocytes, dendritic cells and gdT cells controlling fibrosis in a cholangitis model. biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

This is effectively a cure for type 1 diabetes. Autologous, (chemically) reprogrammed iPSCs were engineered from a patient's fat cells and injected back into her stomach. After ~2.5 months, she no longer needed insulin and now enjoys ice cream + candy like a normal person.

BREAKING: MIT just completed the first brain scan study of ChatGPT users & the results are terrifying. Turns out, AI isn't making us more productive. It's making us cognitively bankrupt. Here's what 4 months of data revealed: (hint: we've been measuring productivity all wrong)

My lab at @WeizmannScience was completely demolished by the Iranian missile a few days ago. This is hard and sad as nothing was left to save. We study heart regeneration and regenerative medicine. As such, we will regenerate, regrow and rebuild. The one thing that wasn't gone is our motivation said one of my student. It is true. Here, I would like to thank many of my friends around the globe that offer their help, space and support. I really appreciate that.
