“A college education is the only opportunity a kid has to save his life. Education is light. Education is heat. College shouldn’t be for the privileged few. How can we raise the ceiling without raising the floor?”
God Bless you, Coach Chaney.
The 🌹 that grew from concrete.
Coach loved Chris & always talked with him before a game, at a Big 5 or A10 function, etc.
A true Philadelphian, Chris never pulled any punches with Coach - typically with one of his masterful one liners.
RIP to a @SJUHawks Legend. 🕊️
Heaven gains another Phillies fan!
Saint Joseph's Athletics mourns the passing of Chris DiJulia.
A fixture on the Saint Joseph's sidelines over three decades, DiJulia was on the Hawks' women's basketball bench for many of the program's biggest moments. Invited by then-head coach Jim Foster to sit on the Saint Joseph's bench, DiJulia was a part of three Atlantic 10 championships, more than a dozen Big 5 titles and over 20 postseason appearances. Born with cerebral palsy, DiJulia was recognized for his infectious spirit in 2001-02 with the creation of the Chris DiJulia Inspirational Award by the women's basketball program. The son of longtime athletic director Don DiJulia, Chris was inducted into the Saint Joseph's University Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in the spring of 2018.

On the Knicks 🏆:
Villanova fans will say that Jay Wright is largely responsible for the team success. There is no arguing that.
Also no arguing that Coach Chaney’s fingerprints are all over it. So much was passed from Coach to Rick to Jalen about the game, PG position, life.
Add in two of Coach’s favorite players - assistant coach Mark Tyndale, scout Pepe Sanchez and also President Leon Rose. Leon became a fixture around the program as the host of TU import Marco Van Velsen in the 90s - spent tons of time on Coach’s couch listening + learning.
Coach Chaney loved Jerome “Pooh” Allen coming out of Episcopal Academy. On his home visit he told “Pooh” if you get into Penn, I’m not recruiting you anymore because I won’t let you turn down that life changing degree.
Another thing nobody else would do.
Don’t care what story you read/hear, John Chaney was 1000% the first coach to collect cell phones the nite before games. Flip phones w/ no screens but he could see that guys would be up all night & in their own worlds. Nobody could see what was coming around the corner better🦉

We are excited to welcome Dan Leibovitz to the Atlantic 10 as our next Commissioner!
Dan, who has worked at the @BIGEAST @SEC and @American_Conf is steeped in A-10 history as a long-time assistant coach for John Chaney at Temple.
Welcome back to the #A10Family Dan!

Thank you for donating the framed jersey to help us keep his memory alive!
After 28 years, we finally got Marvin Webster’s 42🦉jersey where it belongs.
Thank you @BenLSmithBBall Head Coach Derrick Partee for continuing to honor Marvin’s memory. Coach Partee played against Marvin in HS and is trying to revive the Marvin Webster Jr Classic this year. 🕊️

We will never forget Marvin Webster Jr, who passed in the summer of ‘97.
Gone too soon. Big Marv. 🕊️
Coach and John DiSangro would be so proud of one of their all-time favorites. Former manager Drew Golin was mentored by both. Congrats! 🦉 🍒
One of the saddest Temple days as we lost the legendary John DiSangro.
What is below doesn’t begin to describe what a great human being John was. A truly selfless man and he did it all with a smile.
There is no John Chaney without John DiSangro. Now they will be reunited.
Once John contemplated going to work at Comcast full-time. John worked behind the scenes in production. Coach was ready to do whatever was in John’s best interest, and asked what his title would be.
