Last night, Alijah, a @HTbaseball_ student-athlete, was awarded the Willie Wells Memorial Scholarship presented by the Nolan Ryan Foundation to help fund his continuing education at @HustonTillotson.
We wish him the best both on the diamond and in the classroom!

Celebrating Willie Wells ⚾
The Express honors the legacy of Willie Wells at a home game every season, celebrating his lasting impact on baseball & in Central Texas. During our Austin Black Senators Tribute Night, we recognize Wells' lasting impact on baseball as well as present a deserving @HustonTillotson student athlete with a scholarship in his honor, through the @NRFoundation34.

Austin wouldn’t be Austin without @HustonTillotson— and we wouldn’t have the success we have today without Huston-Tillotson.
It is an educational nucleus for our city. It’s a cultural center. It is a key to the future of Austin.
And with this awesome, awesome gift, The Moody Foundation recognizes and highlights the passion and power of all those who made Huston-Tillotson University an incredible place over the past 150 years.
This gift reinforces the value of their sacrifice and success. It also ensures that the aspirations of so many in the past will continue to fuel the inspiration for so many in the future. The future of HT students, the future of HT, and the future of Austin are all profoundly and positively impacted today.
I’m so grateful for this wonderful, historical university and all it has meant and means for Austin. Of course, I’m grateful for its wonderful president, Dr. Melva Wallace. Her vision is extraordinary. Her effort is fierce.
And we give great thanks to the generosity and dedication of the Moody Foundation. Its contribution today and its prior contributions in Austin and Texas are phenomenal.
Story by @statesman's @lilykepner: statesman.com/news/education…
Story: In a packed chapel on the @HustonTillotson hilltop, President Melva Wallace, greeted with a standing ovation, offered the campus an unambiguous message of hope:
Magic, she said, was in the air.

Excited to get rolling with @HTbaseball_ this Fall! Had a great clinic today with Delwood Sports that featured 120+ participants. Giving back to the East Austin community ❤️💪
Had a blast at Dell Diamond last night! @homerunderbyx put on an absolute show!
Fun experience putting the gear back on and representing @HTbaseball_
Great experience presenting at this year’s @THSCAcoaches convention! Coaches play a huge role in the development of student-athletes and have the ability to instill lifelong skills💪🧠
Thank you to those who attended and supported!

Playing the game the right way is:
- wearing your uniform correctly
- hustling on and off the field
- taking your reps between innings seriously
- running out balls in play
- running out dropped 3rd strikes
- consistent body language
- respecting the umpires
- respecting the opponent
- competing to the best of your ability
- being a good teammate
All are controllable by the player. All can be enforced by the coach.
