1. The team does a great job introducing a new launch format with many Pros:
- Fair: Virgens have 24 hours to research and invest. No rush or FOMO compared to traditional bonding-curve.
- Wide distribution: Max allocation is 0.5% per wallet. In the rare worst case, minimum holders at start is 200.
- Same price for everyone.
- Refund policy: If launch fails, Points and $VIRTUAL are refunded to users.
2. However, the new version also comes with some Cons:
- Starting cost for Devs is too low. With bonding-curve, Devs need to spend 5000+ $VIRTUAL to acquire a large supply portion.
Now, Devs only need 100 $VIRTUAL in fees to get 50% of supply.
- Currently no mandatory lock for Dev's allocation at launch. (Team says this feature is coming soon, but unclear if it will be mandatory).
- Without mandatory locks, bad Dev teams could create 100+ sybil wallets, buy fake X profiles, build Virgen points for a week, then create FOMO during launch.
People seeing 50% filled by 100+ wallets might think it's legitimate.
Since all POINTS and VIRTUAL are refunded if launches fail, they can repeat this with only 100 VIRTUAL cost each attempt.
(I did ask the @virtuals_io team in private, but since the 1st launch is ending soon and we are going to have several projects lining up after, I feel better post this to warn people before the team read the message)
3. To avoid getting rugged, remember to:
- Verify the Dev team. Good if they have X profiles, but thoroughly check all information to confirm legitimacy.
For example, the $HOLLY team appears solid after my brief 10-15 minute research (I have no affiliation with their launch, so DYOR)
- Check the AI Agent X profile (like @trustme_bros for $TRUST). If it has multiple followers or credible users following, that's positive.
- Analyze participant numbers - more is better. Wider distribution in wallets and Virgen points allocation is also better.
The risk with this launch type is lower than traditional formats - worst case you lose 566 $VIRTUAL.
However, because of low starting costs, it presents good risk/reward for malicious Devs attempting to rug users.
Don't become a victim, always DYOR.
