So, most of the fat people we see are actually just thin people with stolen goods in their pants?

Qatar didn't just build the world's biggest LNG fleet. It rewrote the economics of global gas shipping. Here's the story nobody tells. In the early 2000s, Qatar faced a simple problem: Ras Laffan to Japan = thousands of nautical miles. Small vessels = too many voyages. Too much cost, not viable at scale. So Qatar did what big players do. It built bigger ships. 🚢 Q-Flex 210,000-217,000 m³ 🚢 Q-Max 260,000-266,000 m³ The largest LNG vessels ever built. Each one carrying nearly double a standard tanker. Fewer voyages. Lower cost per MMBtu. Structural freight advantage over every competitor. Now connect to today: Ras Laffan just took Iranian strikes. 17% of Qatar's export capacity is offline. Force majeure declared on European contracts overnight. Those giant Q-Max vessels sitting idle in port aren't just a shipping story. Each one offline is 266,000 m³ of gas Europe and Asia aren't getting. Qatar spent 20 years building the most efficient LNG supply chain on earth. One war shut it down in a week. The bigger the system the bigger the shock when it breaks. Subscribe to my newsletter, link in my bio

🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russian military bloggers are reportedly alarmed, claiming that Ukrainian forces have begun using kamikaze drones equipped with “graphite bombs” in strikes on Russia’s energy infrastructure. 🔌⚡️ According to Defense Express, this type of weapon disrupts equipment and power systems without causing direct structural destruction. 🔹 It works by creating large-scale short circuits. 💣 A graphite bomb is a cluster munition containing dozens of submunitions filled with conductive graphite filaments. Once released, these fibers spread over a wide area. 🎯 The filaments settle on power lines, transformers, and insulators, creating unintended electrical connections between phases or to the ground. ☑️ This results in massive short circuits and electrical arcs that damage or destroy equipment. This is wild: Citrini sent a dude with $15,000 cash, recording sunglasses, and a pack of Cuban cigars to the Strait of Hormuz. What he found flips everything Wall Street thinks about the strait on its head. Every hedge fund, every macro desk, every retired general on CNBC is watching the same AIS shipping data to price Hormuz risk. The analyst signed a pledge at an Omani checkpoint promising not to gather information, then smuggled in a gimbal, a microphone kit, and a 150x zoom Leica camera past the border officer who inspected his bag. What he discovered on the ground: the AIS data everyone is trading on is missing roughly half of what's actually transiting the strait on any given day. Ships are going dark, spoofing destinations, broadcasting "CHINESE CREW OWNER" through transponder fields to avoid getting hit. Iran's ghost fleet is running 29+ laden tankers inside the Gulf with transponders off, moving an estimated $3B in crude to Malaysia since the war started. The entire market is pricing a "closed" strait off satellite imagery and transponder data that has a 50% blind spot. Every oil model, every supply forecast, every macro call built on AIS throughput numbers is working from a dataset that systematically overstates the disruption. When the signals deliberately go dark, the people staring at dashboards are the last to know what's happening. Citrini figured that out by putting a guy on a speedboat 18 miles from the Iranian coast while Shahed drones flew overhead. The gap between "what AIS says" and "what's actually transiting" is the most mispriced variable in energy right now.

Trump will realise this and then respond by hijacking vessels who’ve paid Iran the fee. Eventually, Iran will split the fee 50/50 with Trump directly, that’s how this story ends

SECOND This is the big one: AI is accelerating brand switching. Almost half of consumers say they’d consider a different brand if an AI assistant recommends it. That’s wild. For years, brand loyalty + paid acquisition + SEO defined the playing field.

Turns out we were all “eArLy” to crypto, as we now know its main use case is for agentic commerce.

I've been researching agentic commerce. The pattern I keep seeing across payments (Stripe's Agentic Toolkit, Visa's Trusted Agent pilots), infrastructure (Skyfire, Nekuda), and now browsers (WebMCP): Every layer of the internet commerce stack is being rebuilt with a machine-to-machine interface alongside the human one. The companies that treated mobile as "just a smaller screen" lost a decade. The ones treating agents as "just another browser" are making the same mistake.

Google rolled out their Universal Commerce Protocol on Etsy and Wayfair. When someone shops in Google AI Mode, the agent checks out for them. If your store doesn't have UCP, the agent skips you. It doesn't even know you exist.

The Shopper Schism: the permanent structural separation of the human who consumes from the algorithm that purchases. When this happens, the marketing funnel doesn't just change. It becomes architecturally obsolete. More on Jan 15: linkedin.com/newsletters/the…

“De-risking” extended beyond high tech to include ICT, traditional manufacturing, and financial services. 🇨🇳 ’s share of 🇹🇼 outbound FDI: 2010 = 83.8% (peak) 2012-2015 = 42% 2016-2019 = 23% 2020-2023 = 5% 2024 = 7.5% 2025 = -2.7% ($1.5 B, 59% decline)
De-risking works!!! 🇹🇼 Taiwan’s GDP increased by 8.63% in 2025, up from 5.27% in 2024. Since 2016, China has used heavy coercive tactics against Taiwan. Taiwanese invested domestically and SEA supply chain after cutting their losses in China, unlike Europe (UK and Germany) which continued pouring billions into China instead of rebuilding their supply chain and investing in their people.

BUSINESS NAME: This is the most powerful ranking factor you control. Google weights keywords in your business name heavily. If your name is "Smith & Sons LLC" you're competing against "Miami Plumbing Pros" and losing. Here's the play: Actually change your legal business name. File the paperwork. Update your LLC. "ABC Services" becomes "ABC Plumbing Services Miami" Yes, this costs $100-200 in filing fees. Yes, it's worth 10x that in ranking power. I've seen businesses jump 15+ spots in the Map Pack within 60 days just from this change. Warning: Don't just change your GBP name without changing your legal name. Google will catch it, suspend your profile, and you'll spend weeks in recovery hell.

Your value proposition isn't something you figure out in a boardroom and announce. It's built by listening to what your customers actually say about you, then testing it until it sticks. Talk to people. Really listen. That's where the real work starts. #StartupLife
