Grateful to @CureMelanoma and its donors for supporting melanoma research.
#MRFResearchWednesday -- Today, we proudly recognize Praveen Chatani, MD of @Foxchasecancer, recipient of a 2026 MRF Resident/Fellow Award generously funded through Gracie's Grant. Dr. Chatani's research project titled, "Non-invasive Assessment of Response to Neoadjuvant Therapy in cN+ Melanoma," explores the accuracy of needle biopsies as a viable option for patients to avoid extensive lymph node surgery, reducing potential complications and improving quality of life. Dr. Chatani's work could provide key data to support larger #ClinicalTrials to make melanoma care safer and more personalized. Related to his work, Dr. Chatani offers, "Immunotherapy given before surgery can be remarkably effective against melanoma, and how well a patient responds helps shape every decision that follows. The challenge is that measuring this response usually requires a surgery to examine the tissue directly. Our research is testing whether non-invasive tools — a blood test for tumor DNA, a PET scan, or a small needle biopsy — can predict that response just as reliably. If they can, we could assess a patient's response to treatment without an operation, tailoring their next steps sooner and more gently. We want to give patients clearer answers about their cancer with the least invasive testing possible.” To learn more about this research, visit -- melanoma.org/news-press/rese…
