New varieties of Pearl coming out next year in both Florida and Spain!
We're sharing recent photos of our premium white strawberries from the #FloridaPearl® brand at Frutas Esther, harvested from their hydroponic system
The fruit quality of these premium white strawberries has been excellent, with a very attractive appearance and great uniformity
Our Research Topic on high‑throughput phenotyping—integrating AI, advanced sensors, and genomics to identify stress‑tolerant crops—is open in @FrontiersIn Plant Science. Submit by May 4, 2026. #AIinAgriculture #Phenotyping #PlantBreeding #PlantScience

As Florida’s strawberry season peaks, our researchers are working to make them even tastier 🍓
@UFPlantBreeding Ph.D. graduate Mark Porter led research at @UFGulfCoastREC identifying genes linked to strawberry flavor and aroma, helping breeders deliver sweeter, more aromatic berries to growers and consumers faster.

It’s officially our MASS season🌱🍓 ! We’ve started transplanting our seedlings in preparation for several batches of DNA extraction, PCR, marker scoring and selection! This is a joint effort of the Whitaker @vance_whitaker @UfBreeding and Lee @seonghee105 labs at @UFGulfCoastREC
Happy to share our paper where we integrated digital, field, and DNA data and demonstrated that biomass traits are genetically controlled and can be predicted in future breeding populations with the use of DNA markers. ⬇️

We are now offering a 3-day weekend workshop on high-throughput phenotyping. Participants will learn how to set up and operate a UAS system, obtain phenotypes from aerial image data & analyze the phenotypic data in ways useful for crop research or breeding applications.
As the final week of field selections and data collection comes to a close, I’d like to take this moment to appreciate these beauties from our field. Thankful that despite the delays we experienced early in the season, we were able to finish strong. @UfBreeding @vance_whitaker
