As is tradition for ChiSub @csteachersorg, we gather once a year around the holidays simply to celebrate each other as colleagues, and as a family.
Thanks to all who joined us today at @BelongArenas Schaumburg, and a huge shout-out to @CSForIL for sponsoring this year’s event.

A hypothesis on why #CSforAll remains so elusive in American K12 education (a thread):
“Career pathways” isn’t cutting it as rationale for broadening equitable participation in Comp Sci education across K12.
We need to reframe the need.

A great honor last night to host April’s @csteachersorg @ChiSubCSTA meeting at @RHSRebelPride.
It was great to see members both new to our meetings and returning veterans, both online and in-person. Much learning and talking shop, but also much laughter.
Next mtg: *May 18th.*

DID YOU KNOW:
Today is Day of the Programmer, the 256th day of the year. The number 256 (2^8) was chosen for this day because it is the number of distinct values that can be represented with a byte #TheMoreYouKnow

Shout-out to all who helped put together this year’s Chicago CSTA Unconference, esp @marlobarnett.

Excellent comparative analysis here by Victoria Chávez of state-level policy support, implementation, & impact on #CSforAll bt CA, RI, & IL.
For IL: support & funding for #CSEd is near-exclusively Chicago-centric in IL - a definitive #equity issue.
