Dear @andyburnham, Please HELP children in CofE. We follow safeguarding policies but the processes in the national church don't work. I'm living proof. Most CofE victims/survivors are not seeing accountability needed to start mending lives. CofE drifts again Help! @ChildCofe

I don't care what anyone says, I believe we can end rough sleeping in Britain. Today is World Homeless Day, and I don't think anyone in this country should be sleeping rough on our streets. Certainly not tonight. That's why one of the first commitments I made as Prime Minister was to end rough sleeping. Not manage it. Not reduce it. End it. And I'm putting over £400 million behind a national drive to get everyone in for Christmas. And to put my own money where my mouth is, I'm making my latest salary donation from my PM salary to The Passage in Victoria, an amazing charity I visited on my very first day in Downing Street. All this will help make sure that every person sleeping rough is offered a route off the street and a safe place to stay because, in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, people should not be left to sleep outside with nowhere to turn. This isn't the finish line. We'll keep building the homes, creating the jobs, and reforming the services to stop people reaching crisis point in the first place. But today, I wanted to say this: we should never accept rough sleeping as normal. Not in Britain, not in 2026, and not while I'm Prime Minister.

All carers need a break sometimes – and far too many carers don’t get them. This week, my wife Emily and I are taking our first two nights away as just us for over 18 years. When we’re back, I’ll keep fighting to guarantee respite breaks for every carer.

10,000 signatures. That isn’t noise. And it isn’t going away. This is bigger than one petition and one Archbishop. It is about safeguarding, trust and what accountability actually means when the questions reach the top. Read below. Share it. Keep asking the questions. 🐑 guardingtheflock.com/post/10… #GuardingTheFlock #ChurchOfEngland #Safeguarding #ChurchSafeguarding #Accountability #ChurchAbuse #Listen

How does this fit with @andyburnham's HOPE AGAIN message?
CofE Archbishops Council have appointed a retired judge to deal with Redress Scheme appeals. HJH Heather Baucher is a conservative evangelical with a record of dismissing compensation claims and victim blaming. She worked for insurance company Hill Dickinson.

I’ve been researching the history of our house after finding some scribbled theories tucked in with the deeds. A previous owner played the organ at Wymondham Abbey & was also a well-known organ maker. As someone fascinated by churches, that brings me a ridiculous amount of joy.

EXCLUSIVE: Sir Ranulph Fiennes was “unlawfully deprived of his liberty” when his wife placed him in a care home, a watchdog body has concluded. The retired explorer has not been seen in public for two years, and The Telegraph has learnt that he has been placed in care homes under a false name by his wife Louise Millington-Cotes, who put strict conditions on how he was to be looked after. Friends have become increasingly concerned for Ranulph's welfare, saying Millington-Cotes is refusing to let them visit him or even tell them where he is. His inner circle asked The Telegraph to investigate. Find out what we know about the whereabouts of the world's greatest living explorer ⤵️ telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/09…

Does anybody know when Mr Nye due to retire?
Archbishops Council has launched its Survivor Support Fund - in essence a heavily watered down Interim Support Scheme Mk 2 without panels and chairs who pushed to make sure people had significant help. Looks like cynical reputational ploy. Hand of Nye?

Rather a lot of money was put aside for past colonialism.....
The CofE’s new ‘Survivor Support Fund’ is a shocking and awful blow for survivors. Capping basic needs at poverty levels and plotting to cut off existing support, all while the Redress Scheme is YET AGAIN delayed!! 1/2

Suffering a bereavement or the loss of a pregnancy is one of the most painful experiences a family can go through. But for too long, people have had to fight for the opportunity to grieve. Today, Labour’s changing things - with new legal rights to allow you to take the time you need to deal with loss.

Voting opens tomorrow in the General Synod elections. I’m standing again for the House of Clergy in the Diocese of London, and I’m sharing my election address: From Scarcity to Abundance Six Conversions for the Church. Over the last five years on Synod I have not k my arrested and voted but also worked particularly on: safeguarding and episcopal accountability; Living in Love and Faith and inclusion; race and poverty; governance and power; Israel–Palestine; and the place of parish ministry and mission. That record informs the six conversions around which my address is built: Exclusion → Belonging Secrecy → Truth Power Over → Power For Centralisation → Parish Maintenance → Mission Exhaustion → Flourishing The full two-page address is attached for anyone who would like to read both the record of the last five years and the priorities I would continue to pursue in Synod. Robert Thompson Vicar of St Mary’s, Kilburn & St James’, West Hampstead
