The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) Recruitment Team Six has apprehended and handed over a 20-year-old recruitment candidate suspected of defilement to authorities in Otuke District.
The suspect, identified as Ojok Michael, was arrested during physical screening at the Lira Recruitment Centre after police identified his name on the UPDF recruitment shortlist. The case had previously been reported at Otuke Police Station.
Team Six leader Col. Gai Frasser Mpaddwa handed the suspect to Otuke Deputy RDC Isaac Opia Opeo, who subsequently transferred him to police custody for further investigations and legal processing.
Col. Mpaddwa reaffirmed that the UPDF does not recruit individuals suspected of criminal conduct, emphasizing the importance of thorough background checks during recruitment.
Police investigations into the allegations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody.

Could you please clarify the duration of your current maintenance program?
Load shedding is now daily in areas NOT listed in the gazetted schedule.
E.g: Nansana, Yesu Amala, Wamala, Katooke. Power cuts happen at odd hours and sometimes doesn’t return until the next day.
Is this the new normal? Residents need clarity.
