Fab workshop this morning, looking at culture and values for the new @SomersetCouncil I love this kind of work, the stories, experiences & views from colleagues are so rich. 90 of these planned, leading to our new people strategy @Som_Careers
Kate’s made me put my spices in jars and now I feel that the one last barrier to fully-grown adult life has been removed.

In the face of private sector wage rises, time & flexibility is one thing local government has to offer to recruit & retain, and it’s proven to work. Oh dear. Minister asks South Cambridgeshire council to end four-day week trial bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-ca…
A real highlight of the week: had my first reverse-mentoring session. A wonderful & thought-provoking hour with my young, black, female mentor; this will challenge & stretch me, positively, personally & professionally @SomersetCouncil

I am so proud that my employer @SomersetCouncil has signed the Menopause Pledge for staff members. It has been refreshing to have such open and honest conversations taking place and taking away the stigma of the impact that it can have on us. #menopause
Father’s Day, daughters took me to see Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse. Completely astonishing, loved every minute, still breathless. Plus some socks and chocolate.
This is desperately sad news. I enjoyed my time working with Christina & she did a lot to bring South West local government into the world of the NHS Leadership Academy somersetcountygazette.co.uk/…
Anyone else using ChatGPT or Bing to help write job descriptions?!? Just include key tasks in the prompts & some excellent drafts come through…
Exeter to Yeovil is one of my favourite run-train commutes! Get to YVJ & it’s trails & parks all the way to town & then @SomersetCouncil offices. And cows.

We’re excited to host our first RISE (Racial Inclusion Supporting Equality) network conference for colleagues today, with guest speakers from @BristolCouncil and @ASPolice.
We’ll be talking about allyship and inclusivity and looking at ways to tackle racial inequality.
ALT Photo shows a conference hall with people seated around tables and Duncan Sharkey, Leader of the council, making a speech at the front of the room.
Amazing day yesterday, at our race equality staff network. Here's me with the amazing Di Hutchins, who has helped me to develop & has made this such a vibrant group @SomersetCouncil @Som_Careers The inspirational @CllrAsherCraig joined us, throwing the challenge to Somerset...
I was Myers-Briggs trolled yesterday, at our OD away-day. The team had done their profiles, I disclosed I’m a very strong ‘P’… “You don’t say…” replied a slightly sarcastic voice. Typical J.
Did a session with our OD team, to look at impact of AI. Bing Images: "A group of excited Organisational Development professionals taking a selfie at a team development day, wide-angle. Have them wearing glitter outfits and dancing in Leicester Square. As digital art"@Som_Careers
Saying farewell to the very wonderful John Jenkins, after 58-years of service @SomersetCouncil That’s FIFTY EIGHT YEARS here! One of a kind, unique character & much loved here @Som_Careers
What a gloriously bonkers day that was yesterday! 52-miles of Somerset, Taunton to Minehead via Bridgwater, Hinkley, Kilve, Watchet, Blue Anchor. Waddling like a penguin today, but happy. Here’s @GeekDadGamer & me with lovely Dave Urwin, race director, at finish @albionrunninguk
