Wallbouncing in Gears is like Jazz fans becoming furries. It wasn't the intended nor desired effect, yet here we are.

Alanah Pearce says America “sucks” when it comes to job security, especially in the video game industry. >In her latest video, she examines why the US and Europe have seen huge gaming layoffs since 2022, while Japan has largely avoided similar cuts. >Her main point is that it comes down to both law and culture. In the US, “at-will” employment makes it relatively easy for companies to lay people off. Japan has much stronger protections for permanent workers, making layoffs far more difficult. >Japanese companies also tend to value keeping experienced employees more. That matters in game development, where losing a veteran developer can mean losing years of knowledge and experience.
