The thing about early D.C. hardcore is that they benefited from parents who were diplomats, journalists, and bureaucrats working within the very system they railed against. It used to be that DJs didn’t really get going until their 30s, and it wouldn’t be uncommon for them to pop up with a crossover hit in their 40s and beyond, but that’s not really a thing anymore.
My 4-year-old called the skull-and-crossbones legend that connotes poison “The Venomous Skeleton”, which is a better name IMO.
