Yesterday I was inspired by the Langley Prayer Breakfast. People from both Langley City @LangleyCity_ & Langley Township @LangleyTownship came together to affirm our need to honour those serving our community, to pray for God's influence and to acknowledge our need for Him. – at Langley, British Columbia

"Sex work" is often marketed as an easy way to make fast money while you're young. What rarely gets talked about is the leaving part, and how hard that actually is. In this clip, Trisha Baptie, founder of Formerly Exploited Voices Now Educating (EVE) and a survivor of prostitution, explains why women aren't walking away from the sex trade with millions of dollars. They're walking away with CPTSD, psychological problems, and addiction issues. Her testimony reflects a central finding of our new report: that prostitution is not simply a job like any other. It is intrinsically abusive and exploitative, and we can never normalize that by calling it "work." Link to the full report in the comments ⬇️

Yesterday, we served the first meal from our new building via our service window on Gore Street! Community members lined up along the side of our building to get their lunch for the day. We're excited to be able to cook meals in our new kitchen and continue meal service during this transition period. When we're ready to open in July, community members will be eating meals in our new dining hall! #DTES
