Tomorrow, July 28, Sui Foundation's public JSON-RPC endpoints are decommissioned. Already on gRPC or GraphQL? Nothing changes for you.
Still on JSON-RPC? Inodra continues to support it, so your app keeps running while you migrate on your own schedule.
It's happening!
If you're still using the public endpoint for JSON-RPC, you have 5 days to complete your migration to gRPC / GraphQL or switch to a provider (like Inodra) that will support JSON-RPC for a bit longer.
We published a guide about this decommission below 👇

Welcome to the Sui ecosystem, Inodra 🤝
If you’re building on Sui and looking for a reliable data provider, they’re a great new option - especially for teams migrating from JSON-RPC → gRPC.

$6M for returning the funds is a GENEROUS white hat settlement 👀
Update: @CetusProtocol is currently negotiating with the exploiter to recover the affected funds
Very clear recap for those interested on the freeze of assets that occurred on the wallets of the Cetus attacker today
Worried about how the hackers assets got freezed on @SuiNetwork from today’s hack?
This post explains it from a non technical perspective so do well to RT for frens.
Let’s break it down 🧵
Some folks are asking: “If assets can be locked, is Sui really decentralized?”
Here’s how it actually works 👇
1. In rare, large-scale exploits like today’s @CetusProtocol incident, Sui validators can come together and reach consensus to deny transactions from specific malicious wallets.
This prevents the attacker from moving stolen funds.
2. ⚠️ This isn’t automatic and isn’t centralized control.
Two key things make it decentralized:
•It only happens in extreme cases (like major hacks)
•It requires broad validator consensus to take effect
3. Think of it as an emergency brake — only pulled when a lot of independent actors agree it’s necessary (as the case was today).
This protects users and LPs, while still preserving decentralization.
4. 🔧 For developers who want to dive deeper, here’s the relevant code in Sui’s repo:
tinyurl.com/sui-deny-config
5. In summary:
✅ Sui is decentralized
✅ The network is secure
✅ Asset recovery tools exist — used with caution and consensus.

We’ve learned that a Cetus smart contract was hacked this morning for approximately $223M and Cetus subsequently paused their smart contracts to prevent further theft.
Cetus worked together with the other DeFi protocols, the Sui Foundation, and the Sui validators to collectively protect the ecosystem. A large number of validators identified the addresses with the stolen funds and are ignoring transactions on those addresses until further notice.
The Cetus team is exploring paths to recover those funds and return them to the community. An incident report from Cetus is forthcoming.
The Sui Foundation and the rest of the ecosystem are committed to supporting Cetus as they work through this incident.
🚨ANNOUNCEMENT
As of earlier today, we have confirmed that an attacker has stolen approximately $223M from Cetus Protocol. We have took immediate action to lock our contract preventing further theft of funds.
$162M of the compromised funds have been successfully paused. We are working with the Sui Foundation and other ecosystem members right now on next-step solutions, with the goal of recovering the remaining stolen funds.
The majority of impacted funds are paused and we are actively pursuing paths to recover the remainder. We have no higher priority and will provide further updates as they become available through this channel. A full incident report will be disclosed later. We are sincerely grateful for your patience. 🙏
And that’s a wrap to my Basecamp
Incredible event and side events, the Sui community is so vibrant, it’s been a pleasure to meet so many awesome people
Special thanks to the Sui Foundation and @mosaicregressor for allowing me to join again this year 🙏
