The seniors in this class started college in a full blown pandemic. If you’re mad at them for rushing the field after a 2OT win in a rivalry game, you don’t get college sports.

Today a motivational speaker spoke to our entire middle school, asking students about their plans for the future. A sixth grader looked at the microphone, took a deep breath, and said, “I want to be @DrakeMaye2.” I get it, kid! @UNCFootball #GDTBATH

Week three down, and now I can REALLY plan. Now I KNOW my students - their strengths, their weaknesses, their interests. Time to get to work!

First teacher workday! Here I am circa 1997 when I said I loved teaching so much I would “do it until I’m 60.” Reached that goal and then some…Here we go, 7th grade!

After working as a teacher-on-loan to our state Dept of Ed for 7 years and as a reading coach in 3 different schools (and retiring), I'm now headed back to a 7th grade classroom in the fall. It'll be my first class of 7th graders since 2006, and I'm so stinkin' excited!!! #ELA

I just told @DonyallD that I was Roberta Flack and his presentation killed me softly with his song…he shared everything I believe about standards based instruction. I got whiplash from nodding! I also said “Yes” out loud a few times! #NCMLE2022
