Absolutely insane to end a game with pitch 8 as a called strike.

BREAKING: The Washington Nationals are finalizing a deal to hire Blake Butera as manager, sources tell ESPN. Butera, 33, will be the youngest manager in MLB in more than 50 years. In four seasons as a minor league manager in the Rays organization, his teams had a 258-144 record.

Never love hearing “surprise” attached to “Number 1 overall pick”.

Completely agree. They let him walk, he didn’t ask to leave.

I'll say it: I don't get why Nats fans boo Bryce Harper.

Now is as good a time as any to remind everyone that the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City (@NLBMuseumKC) exists to tell a deeply important American story -- one that is ultimately about triumph. Our history, good and bad, is all we have. Learning it is our duty.

When asked about the reason for the removal of the story on the @DeptofDefense website on Jackie Robinson's military service, Pentagon press secretary John Ullyot said the following in a statement to ESPN. (The story remains deleted.)

Hasn’t this been the comparison for basically his entire career thus far? Did I hallucinate that?

It always seems sacrilegious to call Juan Soto — or anyone else — a modern-day Ted Williams. But this is the story where we let you know that it’s not as crazy as you want to believe it is. @jaysonst on the hitter most comparable to Soto through age 25: nytimes.com/athletic/5985812…

This seems like the only stance to have (aside from being mad Soto chose the Mets). The Nats (and 90% of teams) would never offer this much money.
Tobi Altizer (@Tobi_Altizer) profile pictureTobi Altizer@Tobi_Altizer9 Dec 2024
This cements, even more, that Mike Rizzo made the right decision to trade him when he did. This organization looks a whole lot different right now without that trade and there’s no chance the Nats would match $765M.

Did the national call really just compare this Dodgers team to then 90’s Yankees?
