🚨BREAKING: A Nashville Teacher of the Year walked away from her job after the district ordered her to change a student’s failing grade. Samira Hardcastle, named 2025-2026 Teacher of the Year at John F. Kennedy Middle School, says a student never finished an art project. She recorded the grade the work actually earned—a failing mark. A parent then sat in the office for hours demanding a change. Three administrators sided with the parent and told Hardcastle to raise the grade. She refused. They overrode her in the system and changed it anyway. She resigned in May. Her three-page resignation letter is public and calls it “grade fabrication.” She later told the school board that “statistics are being skewed to protect the district, not our children.” She is not alone. Internal emails obtained by WSMV4 show math teacher Diana Wills at Overton High was ordered to pass failing students because she had not first notified their parents. Wills refused in writing, calling the directive unethical and potentially illegal. The district suspended her. She is now suing. At Metro Nashville Public Schools, when a teacher and an administrator disagree on a grade, the administrator wins. The person who taught the class does not. Kids struggle with basic skills while the district’s numbers look good on paper. Homeschool your kids.
