Happy #InternationalCatDay! Featured here are some profiles of international cats from our copy of Cats of the Wild - Great and Small, written and illustrated by Larry Harris and published by the Ward Ritchie Press in 1971.
Last Saturday, the Clark Library hosted “Regency Fun and Fanfare: A Workshop on Jane Austen and the Art of the Conversation Fan.” Led by Dr. Leigh-Michil George, attendees looked at fans and game-related items from the Regency period, as well as a Jane Austen novel.
They also learned about Regency word games and created some themselves, quizzing each other from fans they had decorated with riddles. Missed this event at the Clark? Find out what’s coming up next at 1718.ucla.edu/events/.
The Clark Seed Library is excited to share with you newly re-stocked seeds, including Elegant Clarkia (Clarkia unguiculata). This native flower is best planted in cooler months (late fall or early winter) to yield spring blooms.
These new seed packet enclosures feature The Clark mascot - the owl! 🦉 Happy planting! 🌱

The @uclalawlibrary joined us yesterday for a tour of the library & the grounds! Also on view were some legal-adjacent items: a 1676 pamphlet about two servants convicted of murder & a 2011 artist book dealing with Japanese pension fraud.
Viewed some interesting literary items last week during a visit from UCLA’s English honors society, Sigma Tau Delta (@SigTauUCLA), which included a forged Shakespeare signature, an Oscar Wilde typescript, & more!
