Last week I was in Cuba. We bore witness to the impacts of the over six decades long U.S. blockade and siege on the people of Cuba. We brought donated medical supplies, medications, and other essential items but this is not a sustainable solution.
The people of Cuba are struggling immensely. There is a dire lack of energy and fuel, leading to blackouts and water shortages. Food costs are high, people can’t afford to feed their families. Medication is unavailable or on extremely short supply.
This blockade maintained by the U.S. must end. Today there was a United Nations resolution on condemning the economic embargo imposed on Cuba. Canada must do more to support the people of Cuba as they continue to suffer the consequences of Western imperialism and interference with their sovereignty, independence, and self-determination. Let Cuba live! 🇨🇺
“ The government is also imposing a 2% rise in any income from property rental. The measure is forecast to raise £455m a year by 2031.” Excellent news. The rentier economy transfers money to personal bank accounts. It does not contribute to the overall economy.

Sadio Mane, a Senegalese soccer star, earns approximately $10.2 million annually. He gave the world a rude awakening after some fans were flabbergasted when they saw him carrying a cracked iPhone 11. His response was awesome:
"Why would I want ten Ferraris, 20 diamond watches, and two jet planes? I starved, I worked in the fields, played barefoot, and I didn't go to school. Now I can help people. I prefer to build schools and give poor people food or clothing. I have built schools and a stadium, provide clothes, shoes, and food for people in extreme poverty. In addition, I give 70 euros per month to all people from a very poor Senegalese region in order to contribute to their family economy. I do not need to display luxury cars, luxury homes, trips, and even planes. I prefer that my people receive some of what life has given me."
Reparations paid to slave owners by Britain only ended in 2015…….
Charles acknowledged slavery's "great suffering" but refuses to apologise or pay reparations. Royal cost is over £500m. His private fortune hits £1.8bn, the Crown Estate £16.7bn. An unelected monarchy hoarding billions while refusing to pay its debts. 👑

The #Spycops Inquiry has revealed many more police abuses than anticipated, but it is now under threat due to delays & spiralling costs caused by excessive police demands for secrecy. It is critical that the Inquiry continues & examines more recent abuses
