The real criminality is that if you earn £200,000 you only get to see around £115,000 of it.
I was incredibly blessed to have a Head of Music at prep school who let me loose on the department, conducting orchestras and composing carols (and in fact, arranged my first professional accompanying gig for Kentish Opera when I was thirteen!). It is no exaggeration to say she was one of the most important figures in making me who I am today; and now that she is forging her own path in private tuition I recommend her services as singing teacher and vocal trainer, both gladly and wholeheartedly.

I don’t have £2 million in assets, and I don’t earn £200k a year. I’m quite short on both counts. So the HMRC wealth audit doesn’t impact me. Yet.
But it signals a clear intention. A lack of respect for the individual. What is yours is only yours until the government decides they want it to fund further welfare expansion.
Property rights only exist in this country as long as your holdings are meagre enough to escape the fiscal Eye of Sauron. They will come for it all.
For all that our politicians wang on about “soft power” etc., they are seemingly quite oblivious to the damage done to our reputation on the international stage by the draconian and outrageous curtailments to free speech they insist on perpetrating. We’re a laughing stock.

That's funny because at my last strategy meeting with my accountant, they informed me I must use HMRC-recognised Making Tax Digital compatible software, creating an oligopoly for firms like Xero.
I must now also report my company's income every three months rather than once a year, as well as a final report at year end.
So I now have to pay for a Xero subscription.
And pay my accountant more for the increased submissions.
And fuck about with reconciling every three months, rather than once a year.
For HMRC to end up with the same amount of income from me as before.
Fuck off.
Just fuck off.
Fuck off all the way back to Yorkshire, then fuck off some more.
I’d say she’s so dense that light bends around her, but she’d probably misunderstand that too.

Windrush was not some grand historical event - the only reason we should teach it in schools is as an example of how elites can twist past events into new hagiographic narratives to suit modern mores.

I want to tell you about one of the people ITV psychologically damaged, who does not appear in any documentary.
He is a Reform member in Portsmouth.
He served as a Royal Marine in Afghanistan and Iraq, with distinction.
One of ITV's undercover reporters told him they shared the same military background.
That was a lie.
The Marine, believing him, took him for a drink. They spent hours talking about their 'shared' service.
He shared deeply personal stories from the front line.
He thought he was talking to a friend who had been through the same things.
He has since learned that the man across the table was an actor with a hidden camera, sent by a television company to damage the party he volunteers for.
Violated. That's the word he used, and I'm not going to soften it.
A man who put his life on the line for this country had his most private memories extracted by deception for a TV programme.
ITV should be ashamed.

You don’t get to sing Nelson’s praises and ignore the fact he would have stopped the very first boat that tried to cross the channel.
#OTD in 1805, the Royal Navy defeated the combined forces of France and Spain at Trafalgar.
The tactical brilliance, professionalism, technology and training which underpinned Adm Lord Nelson’s stunning victory have driven and shaped the Navy ever since.

It's hard to put into words the bad vibes I get from these "security guards" - these urban scarecrows - that have gradually crept into every town centre and medium-sized shop across Britain. Faces covered, ID's hidden, barely literate.
Britain is turning into what feels like an interrogation chamber with a one-way mirror; you are expected to tolerate being tracked by all manner of AI and CCTV, meanwhile the people on the other side of the mirror and their henchmen are beyond reproach.
I don't feel safer with them around. I don't accept their authority over me. And I'm not going to spend money in the decaying shopping centres they're paid to lurk in.
I don't expect any explanation as to why this has happened to be forthcoming, and the only remaining avenue of protest is to withdraw your custom or vote for parties that will end this.
I'm not going to partake in the public lie, the communal act of pretending, that this is normal. The Britain I knew had no need of such strange men in the first place.
If you wish to live in a communal dream state of self-delusion and lies, go ahead, but you will do it alone and without me.

Eulogizing Winston Churchill in the House of Lords on January 25, 1965, British prime Minister Clement Attlee recalled Winston Churchill crying in the hallways of the House of Commons in the 1930s:
"I remember the tears pouring down his cheeks one day before the war in the House of Commons, when he was telling me what was being done to the Jews in Germany—not to individual Jewish friends of his, but to the Jews as a group...His greatest virtue, his compassion, has never properly been appreciated."
There is a reason everyone from Tucker Carlson to the free Palestine movement vandalizing his memorials, are waging a war against the legacy of Winston Churchill.
As a Jew and as a Zionist I am forever committed to making sure his legacy will be preserved, it is the least we can do.

Leaving aside the preposterous slur on principled critics of ‘oracy’ in the form currently being promoted, @LucyMPowell and her advisers might find this explanation of what went wrong last time we assessed oral skills directly in GCSEs to be useful.
