Shouldn't have dipped out of work & into X but I'm SO glad I did! This is so well thought out & written & it had me laughing out loud. Just what I needed - & I could so easily have missed it...
A great rant from a friend: “I don't know who's running the British newspapers at the moment, but I reckon somebody's accidentally given the editorial jobs to a bunch of fucking doomsday preppers. Have you seen the absolute state of the news lately? World War Three. Nuclear Armageddon. Russian cyberattacks. Chinese hackers. Emergency survival kits. How to prepare for the end of civilisation. Every bloody newspaper seems to be running the same story. You'd think Vladimir Putin had been spotted at Dover services with a tank and a packed lunch. And apparently, the most important thing we can do to prepare for all this is go shopping. Seriously. We're being advised to stockpile food, water, torches, batteries and enough toilet roll to survive the collapse of Western civilisation. Do they genuinely believe we're all going to read these articles, leap off the sofa and charge down to Asda like there's a fucking trolley dash on? I reckon somebody's looked at the Christmas retail figures and thought, "How can we get these bastards to spend another two hundred quid?" "Tell them the Russians are coming." "Brilliant. We'll shift those seventeen pallets of corned beef we've had sitting in the warehouse since Easter." And what exactly am I supposed to do with all these emergency supplies if there's a nuclear attack? Imagine it. You're sitting in your living room, minding your own business, when suddenly there's an enormous flash outside. The windows explode. The roof comes off. There's a nuclear shockwave tearing through the city, flattening everything in its path. And there you are, crawling across the kitchen floor, desperately trying to get the fucking tin opener out of the drawer. "QUICK! SOMEBODY GET THE BEANS!" What fucking difference are beans going to make? You're about to be vaporised at several thousand degrees. I don't think the nutritional benefits of baked beans are going to be particularly relevant. But the politicians are the funniest part of all this. Angela Rayner was asked what she'd be stockpiling. Sauvignon Blanc and mascara. Sauvignon Blanc and fucking mascara! I love that. The world's coming to an end, millions could die, civilisation might collapse, but Angela's making sure she's got a decent bottle of white and her eyelashes done. Then Andy Burnham comes along telling people not to stockpile alcohol because they need to keep a clear head. Well, thank Christ we've got that sorted. One politician's preparing for the apocalypse like she's going to an all-inclusive resort in Tenerife, and another's telling everybody to drink responsibly. And apparently Andy's emergency supplies include Twiglets. Fucking Twiglets. I mean, at what point did the national security discussion turn into everybody comparing what they've brought to a children's birthday party? We're supposedly facing the possibility of World War Three, and our political leaders are having a conversation that wouldn't sound out of place in the middle aisle of Aldi. And then there's the cyberattack warnings. Apparently, Russia or China could launch a massive cyberattack and bring down our communications, electricity supplies and essential services. Right. And what am I supposed to do about that? Unplug the kettle? Put the laptop in a biscuit tin? I can just imagine some highly trained Russian cyberwarfare specialist sitting in Moscow, surrounded by millions of pounds' worth of sophisticated computer equipment. "Comrade, we have penetrated the British national infrastructure." "Excellent. Shut down their electricity." "We cannot, sir." "Why not?" "Some bastard in Ellesmere Port has wrapped his Virgin Media router in fucking Bacofoil." It's a good job Churchill isn't around to witness this. "We shall fight them on the beaches. We shall fight in the fields and in the streets. We shall never surrender." "Unless we've run out of Pot Noodles, in which case we're absolutely fucked." What a fucking pantomime.”

Been reading about data centres going up in different countries in areas where they'll be detrimental to the locals & surrounding environment. Petition for signing please: I realise it won't help the rest of the world but it may help light the way! petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Pls sign petition to stop this forced medication & share link too. Not enough folk are aware of potential dangers OR vast array of foods it's going into (not merely bread incl. most wholemeal/sourdough & other baked goods, pasta, cereal, batter, sauces, gravy etc, as many think!)
From December 2026 the UK will force synthetic folic acid it into ordinary flour, dosing every man, woman and child. Officials say it may cut a rare birth defect by about 20%. But it can hide a serious vitamin B12 shortage so that nerve damage becomes permanent. High amounts have been linked to faster growth of existing cancers, worse memory in older people, and weaker immune cells. Everyday food gives the real vitamin safely. Mass medication without choice is not public health. Synthetic additives are making us sick. The Wyvern Fellowship supports natural foods to feed a healthy nation.

If Gov's so worried over birth defects due to folic acid deficiency in mothers with unplanned pregnancies, why not offer all childbearing-age women FA tablets 'just in case' rather than causing vulnerable folk to OD by ensuring it's added to so many foods? petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Today, pro-Palestine activists are gathering under the banner “Don’t let Israel steal the date” Israel didn’t ‘steal’ the date, they endured it. The barbarians of Hamas wrote the date, in blood.

He was a a contract cleaner at the time. I was lucky enough to visit & interview him. A true hero! Don't have that article (from the '90s) but here's a piece about him being forced to sell his medals - & the help he received: thecleanzine.com/index.php?I…
On the evening of 20 March 1974, Princess Anne and her husband, Captain Mark Phillips, were being driven back to Buckingham Palace along The Mall when a white car swerved in front of them and forced them to stop. The driver, Ian Ball, got out armed with two revolvers. He s*ot her protection officer, Inspector Jim Beaton, her chauffeur, a journalist and a police constable. He then tried to drag the Princess from the back of the car, while she flatly refused to go and her husband held on to her. Ronnie Russell was 28, a married father of two from Strood in Kent, and a former heavyweight boxer. He was simply driving home from work when he saw what was happening. He pulled over and ran back towards the gunfire. Seeing the gunman gripping the Princess by the arm, Ronnie punched him on the back of the head. Ball spun round and f*red at him. The s*ot missed. Ronnie didn't back off. He came round the car again and, as the g*nman made another grab for the Princess, hit him in the face. As police officers began to arrive, Ball ran, and was chased down and arrested. Princess Anne and Captain Phillips were unhurt. Every man Ball shot that night survived. Ronnie later said: "I honestly thought that I was going to die." He was awarded the George Medal. When the Queen presented it to him at Buckingham Palace that November, she told him the medal was from the Queen, but she wanted to thank him as Anne's mother. An ordinary bloke, on his way home, who ran towards the danger. That's the kind of courage worth remembering.

Absolutely disgraceful treatment of a vulnerable patient & her loving family. Unbelievable that something like this should happen in the US. I'm gobsmacked. It makes harrowing listening. I really admire that man's strength & tenacity
The stories being told at Sen. Ron Johnson’s roundtable on the evils Americans faced in hospitals during COVID will make your blood boil. Listen to this man break down as he described what they did to his wife. The hospital gave her a death sentence saying she would be dead in 24 hours and stopped trying to treat her. They wouldn't let his family see his wife and their mother. "I entered the ICU to bring my wife home. Gail was conscious, mentally coherent, repeatedly stated that she wanted to leave with me. Hospital administrators called law enforcement, and what should have been a discharge became an approximately six-hour standoff." "I wouldn't abandon her. At one point, Gail asked the police sergeant who went into the room, Am l a patient, or am l a prisoner?" "As we left a nurse told me, mark my words she'll be dead tonight" He brought her home. She recovered. She is alive today, because he brought her out of that hospital. This a horrific testimony. Hospitals are supposed to treat patients. Instead they were running a clinic of death. Absolutely heartbreaking....

Out of 69 million people in this country, are you telling me we can’t get 100,000 signatures to end the mandatory fortification of white flour with synthetic folic acid? I’m in disbelief. Sign and share—let’s prove we can! petition.parliament.uk/petit…

Criminals dumped 200 tonnes of rubbish on an 80-year-old farmer's field in Hertfordshire, and the law sent him the bill. 40 lorryloads over 3 nights from 7 June last year, on a field edge near St Albans that he had put into a government scheme to grow seed for wild birds. Roofing sheets, bathroom fittings, house clearances, medical waste, and sheets of what looked like asbestos. He had just lost his wife. He would not give the papers his name because the people who did it know where the field is. The council could not find them. So it wrote to him, because it could find him, and told him that if the waste was not cleared he would be prosecuted. The same rule runs in every county, and it is written on gov.uk: waste dumped on your land is yours to remove, at your cost, and the Environment Agency will not touch a tip that size. The quotes came back at £40,000 to £50,000. He said, plainly, that he did not have it. In England there were 1,152,617 fly-tipping incidents in 2024. 1,598 ended in a prosecution. About 1 in 700. The criminals vanish. The man with the deeds is in the phone book. Then a 31-year-old called Archie Ford, with no farm and no reason, read the story and opened a fundraising page. £30,000 came in the first day from nearly 1,000 people. £50,000 in 3 days. Almost 2,000 donors in the end. In March he drove out to meet the farmer, and by June the field was clear and the money left over was set aside for the next victim, because there will be one. This week is Rural Crime Action Week and the NFU has put his case back on the table, because nothing in the rule that produced it has moved. 2,000 strangers understood in a day what the statute book has not understood in 36 years of the Environmental Protection Act. A field is not a crime scene you have to pay to attend.

Interesting...
🚨 LABOUR’S £3.1 BILLION CONTRACTS ROW SPARKS CORRUPTION QUESTIONS 🚨 Jonathan Reynolds.. Labour’s Business Secretary and a close Andy Burnham ally.. has some questions to answer. According The Telegraph, Reynolds attended a dinner hosted by Burnham’s chief of staff James Purnell with senior figures from 14 companies across industry and defence. They discussed Labour’s industrial strategy and specific regulatory issues affecting those businesses. But when Reynolds declared the dinner, he mentioned Flint Global and somehow left the other 13 companies out. Those 14 companies have since received 186 government contracts worth £3.1 BILLION. Sorry, but “administrative error” really isn’t enough here. This deserves proper scrutiny. And if this was Reform, we all know there’d already be demands for investigations, resignations and there would completely and utterly meltdowns.

I hadn't been aware of this so checked it out before sharing. What a lovely gesture by Russia!
The 9/11 Memorial "Tear Drop" sit's directly across from NYC, in Bayonne New Jersey, just the other side of the Statue of Liberty, yet we hear nothing about it. This beautiful, 100 ft tall monument was gifted to the people of the United States by the people of Russia in 2006, in memory of all those who lost their lives on that fateful day, September 11, 2001. The breaking in the cracked façade forms the shape of the two towers. The giant suspended tear drop signifies the tears of the entire world that day. Maybe it's something that needs to be known, starting today.

Come on - let's make the government put the words 'SYNTHETIC FOLIC ACID' in bold letters along with all the other allergens....
Imagine how serious it would be if food packaging didn't advise if nuts were present in a product. It could potentially kill someone. Food packaging failing to declare synthetic folic acid as an ingredient is no different!! #GerFolicAcidOutOfOurFood

As we enter yet another week of drought conditions please, I beg you, put out water for the animals. Our nocturnal wildlife is dying of thirst. A terrible, painful way to die. And you hold the solution, the cure. A turn of the tap will save a life.🚰 So get out your casserole pot lids, your flan dishes, your old baking trays - anything that is shallow and wide and not easily tipped. It doesn't matter what it looks like, this is an emergency. Put them out at dusk, front and back garden. Your local charity shop will have loads of suitable water dishes - so with one simple act of kindness you can benefit so many.🥰 Keep them clean. Keep them full. Keep them coming. Please share this to save a life today.

you don't spend decades paying national insurance just to be told your pension is a "benefit." for millions of britons, it's deferred earnings, not charity. do you agree? 👇🇬🇧
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The UK State Pension is a contributory benefit. NI contributions fund current pensions on a pay-as-you-go basis, not a personal pot of deferred earnings. gov.uk/hmrc-internal-… commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-brief…
