This is the case against vastly increasing Melbourne-based emissions, in a climate emergency, in a nutshell. If you can: object to the airport, sign a petition or volunteer to help to take this case on this year. #2days to register an objection. no3rdtullarunway.net.au/tull…

The latest meeting of the coalition is right under the flightpath in Maidstone, tonight. #Maribyrnong #wefo #Sunshine #Footscray #ClimateEmergency
Investing in coastlines is now unwise as melting has sped up x3 this century. Many airports such as Brisbane will have to be abandoned by our children or us. A terrible legacy.

We made sure to get aviation emissions and their expansion in Melbourne in front of the Minister for Climate Change’s car today. #auspol #climatechange He was rushing to the airport.
The Australian Aviation White Paper drafters are blindsided by nonsensical “Net Zero 2050”, so-called SAF and oxymoronic offsets. Where’s a wind sock when you need it: change direction now.
If a university doesn’t like a climate scientist following what he knows to its logical conclusion, it can sack him. It cannot, however, put the aviation emissions their other academics put in the atmosphere back underground. theguardian.com/environment/…

🗣️"I take flights because they are cheaper than train tickets!"
Governments are favoring highly polluting aviation & shipping with tax exemptions, making rail fares higher⚠️
Supporting greener transport modes are key to meet climate goals📢

Ben is flying in a country with one of the fastest train networks today. To get to Spain, his flying warmed the planet more than a Spaniard does in their entire year.
Travelling advice from Ben? Questionable. Climate Advice from this paper?Unreliable. smh.com.au/traveller/reviews…
New solutions. On the table. Now. What is in your plan for 2035, Minister Bowen? #auspol Surely unlimited fossil air growth is not in there, because on current track warming from aviation can almost double by then.
We do understand the #globalwarming caused by fossil fuels - for four decades it’s been going as predicted.
But we don’t understand the surprise upward leap that is happening now.
And that worries me.
Remember the Paris Agreement uppermost safe level of 1.5C of warming? Last month was 1.8C over historical norms. This will go up and down, but it should go down in history as the month we turned our attitude around. No more new fossil fuel infrastructure like airport runways.
Making clear the unbreakable link between the oil producers and projecting a fake future of “sustainable” tourism. To get to Riyadh and back from Melbourne: 5 tonnes of CO2e of warming, or twice the annual sustainable level of warming from all sources for a human in 2023.
Towards a sustainable future for tourism!
KSA hosted tourism ministers, senior officials, and stakeholders in the tourism sector from around the world to celebrate #WTD2023, promoting international cooperation towards a sustainable future for tourism worldwide.

Hi Sydney Airport 👋🏿 What we sow, we reap.
Extraordinary heat wave in #Australia ,unbelievable temperatures for this time of the year widespread >35C in the South.
36.9C at Sydney Airport,35.6C in the Observatory and 35.3C in the Harbour.
Australia has been living something exceptional for weeks with 35C/40C in the South.
Climate action includes stopping the expansion of fossil oil aviation. In Sydney as in Melbourne. Aviation is 99% fossil oil dependent and industry plans to change that don’t add up.
Threatening the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains by building a toxic 24hr airport on there doorstep does not show that @AustralianLabor care about #ClimateAction at all! Stop the hypocrisy & start doing something #auspol #ClimateCriminals
Melbourne Airport does not want to contribute to emissions reductions. It wants to keep growing. It’s clear it’s about the owning corporations profits, not the interests of Melburnians. Get out of the growing emissions business, guys. abc.net.au/news/2023-09-26/a…
Fuel on international flights should be taxed like any other form of transport, and this could contribute to a Loss and Damage fund. The privileged are causing the climate to change faster than any of the rest of us; we shouldn’t subsidise them to do it.
1/2. 🤔Why should polluters like @Shell, @bp_plc & @exxonmobil #PayUp4LossAndDamage?
🤑In 2022 #LossAndDamage cost developing countries $109.2+ billion (USD) —with the #PakistanFloods 🇵🇰 alone costing $50+ billion—whilst just 5⃣ #FossilFuel companies made $195 billion in profit!
Destination Update: Remind us, where are these new runway flights going to go? Stop with this threat to make the situation worse, do something useful with your lives @Melair
