Remember: 1. The oceans are being killed. 2. Forests will soon be gone. 3. Fertile soil is disappearing. 4. Megafauna risk extermination. 5. Insects are vanishing. 6. Climate chaos is inevitable. 7. Extinction is now. 8. Plastic is in our blood. None of this is front page news.

FROM THE 2020s-2040s: global food shortages, wars
The warnings were there. This is a case in point. A tiny piece tucked away in The Times which should have been front page news and have provoked a statement from the Prime Minister in parliament. #stockpiling

3,000 deaths on 9/11 - maximum alert emergency, trillions devoted to a ‘war on terror’. 50,000 dead from climate breakdown - just a statistic. ‘War, what is it good for? It’s good for business.’ When responding is bad for business, indifference reigns.
If this death toll was the result of a terrorist attack, the world would be up in arms And remember, this is not the new normal From the perspective of 2100, or even 2050, the summer of 2026 will be one of the coolest theguardian.com/environment/…

Part of the iconic West Pier in Brighton, UK, collapsed this morning as Storm Austen has caused fresh food shortages, power outages and travel disruption. Sign up for the next 4 Billion Dead international call on November 18th: 4billiondead.org/NovemberCal…

Every cloud feedback has a silver lining.
Great piece by Tom Harris on cloud feedback The world's cloud cover is reducing, which makes the planet hotter This may be why Miocene Climatic Optimum temperatures were 7 - 8C up on pre-industrial for CO2 levels of just 400 - 600ppm Very, very, scary substack.com/home/post/p-220…

1. We are at 1.5C 2. Temperatures rose by 0.4C in the last decade 3. We will therefore hit 2C around 2036/2037 4. At 2C we will trigger the earth's carbon feedback systems and so further temperature increases will be unstoppable and billions of people will die as we pass 3C. There is only one way out - revolutions to force governments to create legally binding national assemblies made up of ordinary citizens selected randomly from the population to consider these facts, decide on policies to slash emissions to zero, and to give political legitimacy to these decisions by them having been made "by the people" - i.e., in the true sense of REAL DEMOCRACY.
Vindication of Hansen et al.: "The rate of global warming appears to have accelerated, rising from ∼0.05°C/decade between 1880 and 1970 to ∼0.19°C/decade between 1970 and 2010, and finally to ∼0.36°C/decade between 2010 and 2024 [...] The acceleration may be partly related to reductions in aerosol pollutants that previously masked a portion of greenhouse gas warming (@DrJamesEHansen et al. 2025)." Rectifications by media and certain vociferous scientific voices are in order.

As foreseen, just more rapidly than consensus allowed to be seen.

Africa’s forests have undergone a shocking reversal, switching from carbon absorbers to carbon emitters after 2010. Researchers: heavy deforestation in tropical regions has led to massive biomass losses, far outweighing any gains from regrowth elsewhere. sciencedaily.com/releases/20…

1. These articles on global action on the "nature/enviroment/climate" are so predictable you could just get AI to churn them out. "Hey, the long term is important, so let's act together - oh, it hasn't happened - okay, let's try again." "The reality is that we are not delivering on those promises." At 40 years of catastrophic failure, it's time to overcome self-serving liberal denialism and acknowledge: 1. States are controlled by short-term interlocking power interests in government, business, and the media which lead to continual lying on long-term commitments that challenge entrenched power. 2. This will continue so long as governments use elections and voting which enable these entrenched powers to capture political processes and so overcome any long-termist action. We do not have democracy, we have oligarchy. 3. If we are to prevent civilisational collapse, in so much as there is still time, only revolutions which replace voted in parliaments with sortition based citizens assemblies will result in the prioritisation of the long term. This is now the only viable realist strategy - given we will pass 2C in around a decade. There is no time for anything else. Those that continue to promote objectively impossible reformism at best distract from the realist revolutionary strategy, and at worst are complicit in the greatest crime an oligarchy has ever imposed upon the people. It is that serious - as we will soon find out. On July 3rd next year millions of people will demand the realist strategy - that the people decide. theguardian.com/environment/…

HARD TO BELIEVE BUT TRUE: ~20-60% of Earth's species committed to extinction due to economic activities of the capitalist era (especially industrial agriculture) by mid-century
Extinction at 2.1-3°C and rising by the 2040s • global warming accelerating • unstoppable feedbacks in play • carbon sinks have become sources • emissions nowhere near plummeting • projection valid even if emissions fall • Establishment scientists were wrong

Tropical deforestation alone is associated with mass extinction within decades (2225) not centuries. Adding other habitat destruction and pollution brings the date forward to this/next century. This assumes climate change does not exist.. xitter.cf/ClimateBen/status/2113…

ICYMI: can you believe the capitalist elites are destroying the clouds?
Remember: a) humans can't survive without - bees - clouds - trees b) human systems are destroying - bees - clouds - trees Shouldn't they explain this in high school? Or in college? Can you believe they're destroying the clouds? Look👇

AS FEARED: "The world’s clouds are changing. They are covering less overall area and are dimming, with the effect that they reflect less solar radiation back into space. This increase in solar absorption is a major cause of the accelerating warming we are now experiencing."

We need to talk about how the @DailyMail constantly pushes back on climate change action which scientists say without which we do not have a safe long-term future. They must also know that lawyers are looking into the prosecution of organisations misleading the public and pushing back against action. These editors, broadcasters and journalists will end up facing criminal prosecution which will be back by tens of millions of people. Listen to David Attenborough. Watch his documentary breaking boundaries. youtu.be/2Jq23mSDh9U?is=LjTN… Scientists below in thread. The future is not what people think it is.

Ultimate crimes against nature and humanity resulting in horrifying mass death, extinction, and unimaginable suffering at a global scale with billions dead all of which could have been prevented. "Yeah.. but so what?"

FYI: These results indicate that tropical forest loss/degradation alone, even without considering other human stressors such as climate change and habitat loss in other ecosystems, will precipitate a mass extinction event over the next couple of centuries. pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pnas.17…

"Tropical forest loss/degradation alone, even without considering other human stressors such as climate change and habitat loss in other ecosystems, will precipitate a mass extinction event over the next couple of centuries." ~ Global biodiversity loss from tropical deforestation
FYI: the combination of habitat & wildlife destruction and toxic, plastic, light, & noise pollution driven by the race for profit and growth will at this rate result in mass extinction in the next decades
