Great news out of Brazil if you love vibrant forests alive with the sounds of Jaguars and Howler Monkeys. Terrible news out of Brazil if you love the felling of trees and coal plants belching acrid smoke into the sky.

We ignored climate change knocking on our front door for 50 years. Now it is just going to kick it in xitter.cf/ryanweather/status/208…
Update: This "Super El Niño" will be perhaps the strongest in 500 to 1000 years, and could legitimately be the most extreme global weather or climate event experienced by humanity since the invention of the printing press. Only more extreme situation is a volcanic winter.

Ah yes, let's hear what the billionaire has to say on what the American public wants
I said I wasn’t going to weigh in on who should be prime minister of Israel as that is a decision for Israeli citizens. I did, however, want to share one point of view from the perspective of someone who has an understanding of how Israel is perceived in America. Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich have caused Israel enormous reputational damage with their statements and actions which are presented in the global media as representing the voice and will of all Israelis. As such, a government formed without Ben-Gvir and Smotrich will send a message to the rest of the world that Israel is turning a new page. This will allow Israel to rebuild lost credibility, increase the opportunity for an expansion of the Abraham Accords, and enjoy a better relationship with Democrats and Republicans and Americans at large.

Imagine taking a look at the Great Barrier Reef teeming with vibrant, colorful life and thinking "yep, I'm fine with this being bleached"
The world’s coral reef ecosystems almost all face a high risk of collapse in the next 50 years mostly due to warming oceans and heat waves, according to a global assessment. Sometimes dubbed “rainforests of the sea,” they have some of the world’s richest biodiversity. apnews.com/article/coral-ree…

It is absolutely unconscionable that Chevron would spend $50,000 to re-elect a supposed "progressive" mayor like LA's Karen Bass. And that she'd give them reason to. Chevron, as a company, is engaged in outright war profiteering — using the Iran war as cover to price gouge the people of California, who already pay the most expensive fuel prices in the country. Ask yourself: why would Chevron back a mayor whose constituents they're taking food from? Why would an oil company that is directly contributing to the worsening wildfires burning down her constituents' homes want four more years of Karen Bass? It is immoral and nakedly corrupt. It makes no sense for a Democrat to be in that position, much less a supposed progressive. When it comes time to elect a new Mayor on November 3, Angelenos would do well to remember who Chevron picked. Karen Bass clearly cares more for the profits of oil companies than she does the well-being of the citizens she swore to protect

And hey, you may notice there are no Republicans on this list. That is because no Republican even pretends to care for our earth, your children's future, our breathable air, our clean water, etc etc. We could go on and on. They are just terrible. Vote Progressive Nov 3rd.

Fight for us, or expect us back at the next panel.

We call on Maryland's government to get out of bed with energy companies and come to the defense of the constituents they are currently selling out. We call for an end to price hikes and the data centers being used to justify them.

We need massive public pressure or these acts of violence on the working class will continue. This is why we engage in direct action. We are done waiting our turn to speak. We will seize the mic and demand an affordable future.

These endless price hikes are violent and we engage in direct action to bring them to an end. BGE reported $578 million in profits last year, and they're now asking Maryland regulators to approve another $156 million electric rate increase. Unacceptable.

To charge people more and more for a necessity is not only immoral, it is criminal. What's the alternative to air conditioning your home? Heat stroke? To heating it in the dead of winter? Freezing to death?

They spoke about the supposed "inevitability" of AI and in turn, the inevitability of energy rate hikes on the people of Maryland who are already being crushed by a cost of living crisis. Disgusting. Energy is a necessity, not a luxury.

Tamla Olivier, the CEO and President of Baltimore Gas and Electric, and Odogwu Obi Linton, a commissioner on the Maryland Public Service Commission, sat on the panel discussing the same tired points.

Climate Defiance, along with Progressive Maryland, disrupted such a panel this week.

Marylanders' energy bills have skyrocketed 44% from 2020 to 2025. Corporate greed, plain and simple. While policymakers and the CEOs they work for sit together on panels about AI expansion, the average citizen suffers from their cost of living skyrocketing.
