Pat Murphy began his coaching career at DIII Maryville College.
After 6 years at the DIII level, he talked his way into the head coach job at Notre Dame, spending 7 years there before taking over at Arizona State, leading ASU to the college World Series 4 times in 15 years.
He then spent 5 years coaching in the minor leagues for the Padres before being named to the Brewers Major league staff, taking over as manager in 2024.
In his tenure as a big league manager, he’s twice (likely with a 3rd on the way) won manager of the year, became the first coach to lead a team to the CWS and MLB World Series, became the oldest manager to make his World Series debut and now is a World Series champion, bringing Milwaukee their first title.
What a journey for Pat Murphy

OTD in 1991, Jack Morris turned in arguably the best big-game performance ever 😤
Morris threw 10 scoreless innings in Game 7 of the World Series as the Twins beat the Braves 1-0 in one of the most dramatic Postseason games of all time.
Scattering 7 hits and striking out 8, Morris became just the 3rd pitcher to throw a shutout of more than 9 innings in the World Series, joining Christy Mathewson (1913) and Clem Labine (1956)
The @Twins won the game in the bottom of the 10th on Gene Larkin’s pinch-hit single to give Minnesota its second World Series championship in five years.

The fan’s reaction was priceless.

The softball world lost an iconic figure. Dad & I received word in the middle of the night that our great friend, Les Novak, passed away at the age of 92.
We were fortunate enough to visit with him last week.
Les was a giant of a man, a philanthropic giver, specifically to @GopherSoftball, a WCWS umpire, UIC of the International Softball Congress, assignor to many conferences throughout the country and, while stubborn and gruff, caring and loving in his own way.
Les is also set to be inducted into the @USASoftball Hall of Fame this Fall.
We’ll miss you, old friend. Thank you for everything that you did to support Dad & I in this beautiful game. 💜
