If you live in a pink area on this map, your chances for a particularly stormy winter are notably higher than normal. That includes densely populated stretches of the West and East! I surveyed meteorologists from these regions. Here's what they said 🧵

Frozen Turkey? It has been a great stretch of October weather here in MD! The next chance for rain will likely hold off until early November. Speaking of November, the Euro long-range weeklies have been very consistent in bring the first chance for snow to the Baltimore Metro around Thanksgiving! 👇🤔 Stay tuned...❄️🚂

Having a family connection does not make someone unqualified. The concern is whether coaches without those connections receive equitable access to the same opportunities. “I don’t think it’s a disqualifying factor that you have a parent that is coaching college football, but it certainly makes it a lot easier to break in. Whether coaches without family connections receive equitable access, that’s all we’re looking for,” Coalition Executive Director Raj Kudchadkar told @njdotcom. What does a strong El Nino mean for winter in the Mid Atlantic? Look to the past. Strong El Ninos tend to weaken the Polar Vortex in the second half of winter. What does that mean? Cold air gets to spill into the United States. El Nino also tends to produce an active southern branch of the jet (more coastal storms). So while it might not be a cold winter here in MD, there could be times in mid to late winter when the cold air hooks up with one or two of the coastal storms. That's why I'm saying a mild winter does NOT mean there won't be any snowstorms. All Aboard! ❄️🚂 🙂 Stay tuned...

Here are the latest updated maps from the Storm Prediction Center with a few notable changes. One positive change is that the tornado threat has shifted significantly farther north. However, a 30% probability of damaging winds has also been introduced.

Widespread winds of 30-60 mph are likely tomorrow. 60-70 mph winds will be possible in the red area; note that the main area of damaging winds may shift north. Regardless, these winds will be VERY widespread and will also have a low embedded weak tornado threat...
