8 years ago, God had a plan that, at the age of 18, I couldn’t fully understand. But looking back now, 8 years later, I realize He was blessing me with the greatest opportunity of my life: the opportunity to be your dad. I had no idea just how much you would change my life, my views, my perspective, my everything.
I’ve watched you grow from my little baby into a smart, funny, loving, empathetic, and fearless young man.
Being your dad is one of the greatest honors of my life. I pray that as you continue to grow, you always keep God first, stand tall in who you are, and never be afraid to chase your dreams.
I hope you know that no matter how big you get or how old you become, you’ll always have a daddy who’s in your corner. One who’s cheering the loudest, pushing you to be your best, even when you might not want to hear it, and who will always love you unconditionally.
And today, on your 8th birthday, I got to witness something even greater than another year of life. I got to watch you publicly declare your faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. As your father, there aren’t many moments that could make me prouder. Eight years ago, God used you to change my life, and today I got to watch you take a step in your own walk with Him. That’s a full-circle moment I will cherish for the rest of my life.
I’m proud of the young man you’re becoming, but even more thankful that God chose me to be your father. I pray that you never forget who you are, whose you are, and just how much you are loved.
