Stop waiting on a D1 offer that may never come. Do not sleep on NAIA, D3, or D2 programs. There are great coaches and opportunities at each level. If you wait too long for something that may not happen, you might miss an opportunity on a school that wanted you. Don’t be ignorant.

How do you teach Inside Zone? We're starting a 4 part Inside Zone clinic in our weekly Office Hour series. Part 1 is now in the GameDay Systems Vault. I break down our covered/uncovered rules, how we identify blocking responsibilities, and examples against even and odd fronts. Next week: Our calls and footwork against different fronts. Just real coaching. How we teach it.

Have to show them why and how to avoid this. Countless times I’ve witnessed college coaches just accuse guys of opening up.
Here is one thing Offensive Line coaches should think about when coaching their linemen to stay square and not drop their back leg in pass pro: You didn’t get beat in pass protection because you opened up and dropped that outside leg. You got beat, SO you dropped your outside leg and opened up as compensation. Many OL coaches don’t realize that an OL not staying square is actually a reaction to what the DL is doing. Football is a game of perceive and react. So, if your coaching point to a lineman who is struggling to stay square is “go take 1 million kick sets on air and make sure you stay square each time,” or you have someone rush his outside edge 1 million times and tell him to stay square, you are very unlikely to see any improvement. Why? Because the real problem with not staying square is the reaction piece of the pass set vs a defensive lineman The environment an OL plays in during a real game is chaotic, meaning that a DL can present a ton of different moves and problems. Your answer as a coach can’t be pre-planned drills or on air pass sets. You need to have your OL practice in dynamic/chaotic environments to fix an issue like not staying square. Have them practice against rushers who can use any type of pass rush move at any time, just like they would face in a real game

I’ll always stand with @gcrumejr He’s been a great mentor and influence in my life, and I’ve seen firsthand how much he cares about Judson University and its football program. It’s easy to try make assumptions from the outside without knowing the full picture of a program.

John Harbaugh: “If you’re a position coach, individual period is your time to shine.” No long lines. Get players reps. Work on what matters. Build drills around the skills your players will actually need on game day. Be thoughtful. Be creative. Be imaginative. @HarbaughCoach

Matt Smith - Offensive Line - Montana State University Great pass protection starts with fighting pressure with pressure. Match the side. Stay tight. Protect the quarterback. Smith breaks down a drill for staying balanced, keeping your base, and expanding the rush away from the QB. Check out Smith's presentation: store.mushroom-society.com/p…

Be so obsessed with personal development/discipline and growth that it is to the point where you have anxiety about it until you overachieve your goals and are successful and it becomes a trait rather than an “obsession”
