Ben McCollum won 4 national titles at Northwest Missouri State.
His biggest lesson came before any of them.
Day one, first practice, he walks in and thinks:
"This is what first place feels like."
Not on the scoreboard. In the room.
First-place people work hard — but it's more than that. There's an edge.
And there's energy.
The guys who didn't make it weren't bad kids. They were just moody. Flat. They took life out of the building.
Culture isn't built by talent.
It's built by people who bring work, edge, and energy every day.
First-place people don't just perform.
They raise the room.

Everybody talks about working hard.
Winners do more than that.
They work hard and they do it right.
That’s the difference.
Energy matters. Effort matters.
But detail matters too.

Really good stuff here from Jay Wright
“The most open you will ever be is when you first catch the ball….The habits of most players is to catch and dribble or catch and hold”
Great teaching point

Whats Dan Hurley looking for in his new assistant?
"You've got to be relentless. You've got to be able to do it 11 months a year. Youve got to be obsessed with it. Youve got to take your job home with you."
