Dribble Drive Motion Basics
Top priority: The "Attack/Layup" drive mentality
It only works with the true threat of getting to the rim with aggressive drives

Can you run Circle Motion against zone?
The only adjustment we make:
Flash MIDDLE instead of finishing the cuts to the rim

“4v4 Turnover Transition”
Scrambling into randomized transition possessions
Offense works on advantage transition, defense works on fighting to get the possession to neutral

Book is Live!
Over the last several months, I’ve had the chance to go back through ten seasons as the head coach at Merrimack and put into words so much of what has shaped our program.
More Than the Zone is not a book just about our zone defense. It’s about everything underneath it as well - the recruiting, development, standards, practice design, staff structure, offense, defense, analytics, preparation, and daily habits that have become the Merrimack Basketball Operating System.
I loved reliving it. I hope coaches, leaders, and anyone interested in building a team or organization can take something from it and make it their own.
More Than the Zone is available now on Amazon.

Loved my time chatting with Coach Hack! Beginning of season tune up - shot selection scale is one of my favorite ways to communicate intent based on situation, time and score, and empower initiative and in game decision making. @CoachHackGO

🧵Lots of rambling from me but Utah basically changed their whole P&R Coverage/Protection from last year and it was the perfect setting for Ty Jerome’s explosion in game one
A theme from last night's game was Utah guarding the two-man actions straight up by either switching or playing a deep-drop

2-Guard: Rule of thumb with both the Rip & Chin cut is that they tend to either open early or late.
Teach the passer to stay w the cutter because here’s a great example of
“late.”

Backdoor, backdoor, backdoor. A few burn cuts for layups and the pressure is released. Help side comes and the dominoes begin.

Still obsessed with this Yale zone continuity offense
-4 guards cutting from the back side into the middle
-A post holding the back line of the zone honest on the baseline
