Every year, at the conclusion of our final practice of the regular season, we take time to honor our seniors with one of the most meaningful traditions in our program: Senior Goodbyes. We line our seniors up along the sideline of our practice field, giving every underclassman and coach the opportunity to personally thank them, share a memory, and say their goodbyes. There are hugs, smiles, tears, and moments that remind us all that this game is about so much more than wins and losses. It’s a tradition that has become incredibly special to our program. It’s a chance to recognize the relationships that have been built, the sacrifices that have been made, and the impact these young men have had on one another. Someday, the wins, losses, and scores will fade. But the relationships, memories, and brotherhood built on this field will last a lifetime. To the Class of 2027: Thank you for everything you’ve given to Maumee Football. Thank you for your leadership, your commitment, and the memories you’ve helped create. You’ve left your mark on this program, and you will always be part of the Panther family. We aren’t done playing football yet, but we know our time together is getting shorter. And when that final whistle eventually blows, we’re going to miss this group more than they know.

THE PANTHERS ARE PLAYOFF BOUND! For the 2nd time in 4 years, the Maumee Panthers are heading to the OHSAA State Playoffs! To put that into perspective, Maumee has accomplished this feat just twice in the last 22 years, with the last occurrence coming during the 2009 and 2010 seasons. It is also the 10th appearance Maumee football has made in the OHSAA State Playoffs in its program’s history. This is more than just another playoff appearance. It’s a testament to the hard work, commitment, and belief of the players and coaches who continue to push this program forward. The work isn’t finished. We’ve earned the opportunity to keep playing, and now it’s time to make the most of it! This week, senior captain Owen Tolbert has selected Mrs. Lindsey Bartlett to serve as our Honorary Captain for Friday night’s game against Oak Harbor! Mrs. Bartlett is a proud Maumee High School graduate who returned to her alma mater to teach Spanish. After graduating from MHS, she attended the University of Toledo and began her teaching career at St. Ursula Academy before returning home to Maumee. For Mrs. Bartlett, returning to Maumee was an opportunity to give back to the school that first introduced her to the Spanish language and culture. Her goal has always been to create a classroom where students feel comfortable being themselves, making connections, and trying new things. Our Honorary Captain tradition gives our senior captains the opportunity to recognize educators who have made a meaningful impact on their lives. We are excited to recognize Mrs. Bartlett and the difference she has made in Owen’s journey at Maumee. She will join Owen and our team captains at midfield for the pregame coin toss Friday night at Kazmaier Stadium! We Are Maumee!

Today, members of our team leadership had the opportunity to visit with former Maumee Head Football Coach Bob Boyles, a member of the Maumee Athletic Hall of Excellence and Contribution. We spent some time talking football, sharing stories, and having plenty of laughs. Coach Boyles shared some memories with our guys and wished the Panthers luck as we head into the final stretch of our season. Days like today are a great reminder that Maumee Football is bigger than any one team or any one season. We’re proud to represent a program built by generations of Panthers who came before us, and we’re grateful we got to spend some time with one of the coaches who helped build that tradition. This week, as we celebrate Homecoming at Kazmaier Stadium, Team Captain Keaton McCullough has selected Mrs. Andrea Motycka to serve as our Honorary Captain against Rossford! Mrs. Motycka has been a longtime educator with Maumee City Schools. Her connection with Keaton and this senior class goes all the way back to their elementary school days at Wayne Trail Elementary, where she first had the opportunity to work with many of them. Her career has since brought her to Maumee High School as a science teacher, allowing her to watch this group grow from elementary students into young adults preparing to graduate. Her impact at Maumee extends beyond the classroom as well. Over the years, Mrs. Motycka has been involved with programs including National Honor Society and Quiz Bowl, continuing to invest her time in Maumee students in a variety of ways. For Keaton, choosing Mrs. Motycka is a chance to recognize someone who has been part of his journey, and the journey of this senior class, since they were kids at Wayne Trail. We are proud to have Mrs. Andrea Motycka join our captains at midfield Friday night for the coin toss as our Honorary Captain! Thank you, Mrs. Motycka, for your years of dedication to Maumee students and for the impact you’ve made on Keaton and the Class of 2027!
