First place in Region 4 is on the line Friday night in Waynesboro as East Central travels to Wayne County in a battle of two unbeaten region teams. East Central has turned its season around with consecutive region victories, defeating Purvis 55-30 and Northeast Jones 34-14. The Hornets have scored 89 points in their first two region games and have an opportunity to take a major step toward the region championship. Wayne County has been equally impressive, defeating defending region champion Stone 47-28 before shutting out Vancleave 41-0 last week. The War Eagles have outscored their first two region opponents 88-28. One interesting statistic is East Central’s improvement on the road. The Hornets are 2-2 away from home this season but have won their last two road games after dropping their first two. They’ve scored 74 points in those two road victories. East Central quarterback Kash Litton will be a key factor as the Hornets look to continue their offensive momentum against a Wayne County defense coming off a shutout. Both teams enter with identical 3-4 overall records and 2-0 region marks.
