The official story is that it's about school standards and the cost of living. Vance didn't buy it.

Anti-ICE agitators physically attacked federal agents in Salem, Oregon on Friday.
These mobs are tracking where ICE officers are, following them, and getting in the way of operations as the agency steps up activity in the state.
One agent trying to do his job should never have to fight off a crowd.

I'm always surprised by how many Americans don't know that their country's first war was against the Barbary pirates of North Africa.
They attacked American ships, captured and enslaved American sailors, and demanded tribute payments.
