Chase Burns has taken MLB by storm since being BA's No. 12 college draft prospect in 2024. Burns' junior year at Wake Forest:
10-1, 2.70 ERA, 0.920 WHIP, 191 K, 100 IP
The righty just signed a seven-year, $105M extension with the Reds💰

Moooooooose baby. Isaiah James (@zaybsbl10) is a nasty LHP who has been up to 98 MPH.
Also had the top spin rate of all pitchers at day 2 of the combine for his fastball, and top 5 spin rate for his breaking ball.
An electric arm for Moose to get to campus.

James Clark has withdrawn from the draft 😯
Clark, the No. 52 player in our 2026 MLB Draft rankings, is a five-star Duke recruit.
Significant development for @DukeBASE, which entered the weekend with the No. 23 recruiting class in the country.

Well, this is a big one.
California SS James Clark has withdrawn from the draft. No. 52 on the BA 500 and one of the better pure hitters in the prep class.
Duke gets a huge 5-star recruit to campus.

NEWS: St. John Bosco shortstop James Clark has formally removed his name from the MLB Draft. He and his brother Miles will attend Duke.
Clark ranks as the No. 53 prospect in the class at Over-Slot.
It’s as big a get for Duke Baseball as I can remember of late.

When I visit our minor league clubs, I never jump straight into coaching.
The first thing I do is watch and listen. I call it collecting coins.
Collecting coins means learning who the players actually are.
Two parents in the house growing up? Just mom? Any mentors? Did they love school or struggle with it? What do they do when it's raining and they're stuck inside?
Because here's what I figured out after a long time in the game: before you can ever coach a man, you have to know a man.
You can have the best practice plan in baseball and lose a player completely because he never felt like you saw him as anything more than a roster spot.
Collect the coins. Know who you've got. Everything you teach lands harder once you've done that work.

Reds Chase Burns with a long hold waiting for movement at 1B & picks Anthony Volpe as he vaults.
1) Accelerates his pick/‘A’ move.
2) Short turn radius.
3) Ball up out of the glove to produce short quick arm action.

Kaden Smith had a knack for big moments in 2026. But as much impact as he made on the field, it's his off-the-field impact that set the cornerstone for the future of Diamond Devil baseball in Durham for years to come.
Left-handed hitters with 30+ HR, 100+ RBI and 100+ BB in their first 162 career games:

Want to give a shoutout to Duke reliever Ben Dean, who has been one of the leaders in K/9 in the college landscape all year.
Up to 95-96 MPH with carry, but low-80s hammer is a true weapon. Lands for strikes and utilizes his angle to generate ugly whiffs.
58 Ks in 33.2 IP.

Here we go @DaronVaught!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t find enough ice buckets…so we dumped a WHOLE cooler on Coach Moose to make up for it😁
