The 3 costs associated with being a leader according to Kirby Smart
1) Have to make hard decisions that'll negatively affect people you care about
2) Be disliked despite your best attempt to do the best for the most...
3) Be misunderstood and not always have the opportunity to defend yourself
This is really powerful stuff

Nick Saban says he had lived his entire life like he was in a hurry and didn’t even realize it
“When I retired, and I don’t know if I ever shared this with anybody, I spent 50 years of my life being in a hurry and didn’t know it.”
“I retired and the cars are backed up on the bridge and it goes down to one lane. In the old days, I would be the guy that passed all the cars up and cut in at the last minute in front of somebody.”
“I sat there with Miss Terry in the car. She says, ‘You mean you’re not going to pass everybody illegally and cut in?’ I said, ‘We’re not in a hurry.’”
“But it’s the first time when I retired that I realized that I wasn’t in a hurry. And I was in a hurry for 50 years and didn’t know it.”
“I was always hurrying up to the next thing. Solve the next problem, go to the next thing. And you talk about relieving stress, that relieves stress better than anything. I just noticed it in that circumstance. Not cutting into traffic and waiting my turn.”
You are always BIG enough if you are GOOD enough.
Elite words from one of the best.
University of Houston coach Kelvin Sampson on Jamal Shead signing a new three-year $24 million extension with the Toronto Raptors a year early, just two seasons into his NBA career: "I told Toronto before the draft, I told all those guys, 'Look you can sit there and figure out what's wrong with every player.' That's what most cynical people do. Always figure out what's wrong, that's how they see things.
"But if you want to win and have a player that's dependable you can count on. . . Sometimes a player's greatest strength can be dependability. And that's what Jamal is. His attributes talent wise is No. 1 his strength. I mean, he is strong. His thighs and his butt. That's a powerful little dude. But his leadership, his basketball IQ, his fearlessness, his competitiveness. I hear a lot of people say he's not quite big enough.
"My response is always the same. You're always big enough if you're good enough. And Jamal is."
And one of the many reasons they won’t is because they are not listening to the right voices to make the right choices.
Keep helping like you have your whole life. ✊ @TweetsbyCoachP
The vast majority of you recruits will not play a sport at the next level in college.
I may be the only person willing to tell you that. But it is a reality that exist and MUST be shared to have any chance of possibly making it to the next level.
You have to know what you’re up against if coaches aren’t beating your door down,

The man who can walk away from what he desires, for the sake of what he must become, is a man no one can own.
Congrats to my HS teammate @paquifig getting to the playoffs again!

Life humbles you. As you grow old, you stop chasing the big things and start valuing the little things.
Simplicity becomes the ultimate goal.

Excited for Coach P to lead a group of tough young men and compete on a national platform!
I’m extremely excited to announce that the TN Travelers program has received a contract to compete on the P32 Circuit!
This is a major opportunity for players, families, coaches, and the entire Tennessee Travelers organization.
We will be one of only a few programs in the state with a place on a true circuit, giving our young men the chance to compete against high-level talent on a national stage.
This opportunity is a privilege but it also comes with responsibility. We must represent the Travelers with discipline, toughness, humility, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
This is a big step forward for the program, and the work is just beginning. I’m honored to lead this 2028 team into an exciting new chapter.
Let’s get to work!
