There is absolutely nothing hip-hop-wise that 50 Cent has over Jay-Z. Jay-Z has sold more records, won more Grammys (25 to 50’s 1), sold out more concerts, has a better discography, more influence (arguably the GOAT), and more money. 50 is not Jay-Z’s peer in the music industry.
50 cents just came in at the right time. Gansta rap took a hit when pac and biggie died. DMX came in and then 50cents. Most of the rapping was flossing and rapping about money. It was the rap time for gansta rap. Jay-Z career is more consistent than 50’s longevity means a lot 💯

Why is it a knock on Jayz for debuting AFTER pac and Biggie? Tupac debuted in 1991, Biggie debuted in 1994. Jayz didn’t drop his debut album Reasonable Doubt until June 1996. Pac was dead sept 96 and biggie died March 97. They were supposed to be bigger then Jayz. Is Jayz not afforded time to grow his fan base like Pac and Biggie did? He was supposed to just surpass them in a short amount of time with one album? I’m a Pac fan through and through but his debut album didn’t do well commercially , 2paclyse now didn’t go gold until almost 4 years later
