Shooting Day 🏀
I remember spending multiple summers working with NBA shooting instructors Buzz Braman and Andy Enfield, focusing on shooting technique, mechanics, and proper form. I learned so much during those summers, and the knowledge I gained helped many players in my program improve their shooting.
I thought I was retired, but sometimes you realize your experience and knowledge still have a purpose. It’s time to give back, share what I’ve learned, and help others get better.
We’re doing a great job executing, but our shooting has to improve. Shot selection, shooting mechanics, and consistency are critical. Our goal is to convert 35–40% of our open shots.
At the end of the day, a great move only matters if you can finish it by putting the ball in the basket.
The key is repetition. Build the right habits, trust the work, and keep shooting. 🎯🏀

He is definitely a D1 guard. Offer this kid, you’ll thx me later. There’s a handful of guards that can control a game and he’s one any college coach will truth to run his team. I was highly impressed
Caught up with Abington senior PG Xander Grasty before tip-off at the @RarefootageClassic!

Is 2027 PG Xander Grasty the BEST point guard in the Philadelphia area? The uncommitted floor general has a STRONG case! Grasty is as good as any guard in the area, and he put that on FULL DISPLAY at the @RareFootageClassic!
Busy week ahead as we continue installing parts of our offense, defense, press, and press break. There are certain things and terminology you assume players already know, but sometimes you quickly realize they don’t. That’s why the details matter!
I’m willing to take some losses now to build a team that can win later, especially during the preseason. It’s about learning, correcting mistakes, building chemistry, and making sure everyone understands the little things that make a big difference.
Schedule for the Week:
•Thursday: Away scrimmage after practice
•Friday: Practice
•Saturday: 2 games
•Sunday: 3 games
The goal is to get better every day, trust the process, and build the right habits now so we’re ready when it matters most!
Stopped by Rollins College to watch a workout and visit my former player, 6’8” guard Jackson Gaffney. Jackson looked great, and the team looked solid at every position.
One thing that really stood out to me was the attention to detail the coaching staff put into defense. As a team, this is something we’ve been emphasizing, and watching and listening to their approach reinforced how important those details are. There’s a lot to learn from seeing how other programs teach, communicate, and execute.
We’re expecting Jackson to have a breakout year!
And for anyone who thinks Division II basketball is a walk in the park, think again. The level of talent, coaching, and competition is real. Some DII programs can compete with — and are just as good as, if not better than — some DI programs. Respect the level!
I had to chuckle this weekend when I ran into a kid who was supposed to play for us this season but decided to go in a different direction.
He was the center on the B team, with 20 guys sitting on the bench and barely getting any playing time. I wasn’t laughing at his decision to go somewhere else. I laughed when he approached me telling me who was recruiting him.
The A team coach in that program is a friend of mine, and he told me I should be glad I didn’t take the kid because he simply doesn’t get it.
Sometimes, the best decision you make is the one you don’t make.
