Jay Timmons with a HUGE open-field 1-on-1 tackle against Indiana. Man coverage — if he doesn’t make this tackle, it’s likely a TUDDY. The balance, patience and ability to keep his eyes on the hip are everything here. He stays square, closes space and finishes. Love what we’re seeing from #25. There are a lot of Caleb Downs-like qualities in Jay’s game. He’s become a central piece of the Silver Bullets. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

If Ohio State is going to get where it wants to go, the run game has to be SOLID to support Fahey. Bo and Isaiah are going to lead the charge, but Legend Bey’s carries become even more important. When he’s decisive, hits the correct hole and gets downhill, this simple 6-yard gain can turn into 30 with his ability to make defenders miss. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Qua Russaw does his job here — boxes the RG’s kick-out, maintains leverage and fits the run for minimal gain. But the next step separates good defense from great defense: make the play AFTER you do your job. Qua does exactly that. Just weeks after giving up 199 yards on the ground to Illinois, Ohio State’s run defense has completely changed the conversation. Not seeing a lot of “Hero Ball,” as KJ said. Just sound, physical, team defense. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Ohio State is using Eddrick Houston’s post-snap movement from the flex 3-technique to change the center’s blocking angle and disrupt Indiana’s gap scheme. This is playing to Houston’s strengths as an athlete and putting him in positions to attack. Creative use of his skill set, and a big reason we’re seeing the success we are from him. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Loved the way Ohio State opened this game in 12 personnel. Putting the flat defender in conflict and creating easy answers for Julian. Indiana had already shown a tendency to give up yards to TEs, and the Buckeyes took advantage early. I would’ve liked to see more of this throughout the game, especially with Julian not playing his best. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

RT @BuckeyeFilmBDN: Northwestern’s TE room gave Indiana problems, combining for 194 receiving yards. This is a great example of why. Agai…

Bo Jackson presses the Wide Zone, stays patient, cuts it all the way back to the open seam, and makes a defender miss in the hole. That’s RB vision and feel. With Ja’Kobi Jackson out Saturday, Bo is going to have to step up. Against a defensive line that moves, shifts and changes the picture, these are the runs that can turn into explosives. Great rep by Jake Cook here too! See it. Trust it. Hit it. This is the version of Bo Ohio State needs! #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

There’s been plenty of scrutiny surrounding Julian Sayin, but one thing I’ll give QB1 credit for: his willingness to run when nothing is there. Over the last 3 weeks, that part of his game has steadily improved. Here, he recognizes man coverage, sees the in-routes to the field are taken away, and understands the middle of the field is open. He tucks it and moves the chains. Sometimes the best play is the one you make with your legs! #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Jaylen McClain is playing some of the BEST football of his career. 🔥 The instincts, physicality, and awareness are showing up every week. He’s become the leader on the back end and is keeping the standard that Caleb Downs set in the two years prior. High-level safety play. High-level leadership. Huge piece of this defense heading into IU. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

The physicality Ja’Kobi Jackson runs with is a WELCOME addition to this backfield. He’s a violent runner, and I love how he’s brought the best out of Bo Jackson. Watch him run this inside zone. There’s a DESPERATION to the way he attacks every carry. He’s finishing runs, running through contact, and making defenses work. It won’t be long before one of these creases turns into a MAJOR explosive in the run game. Very hard not to root for this type of RB! #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Great rep against Counter GT from Qua Russaw, Eddrick Houston, Riley Pettijohn, and Payton Pierce. 💪 Love that we’re getting the BEST version of Eddrick Houston right now. The physicality up front is showing up, and I LOVE the trigger from Pierce and Riley to attack their fits. Fast, physical, and playing downhill. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown

Love what I’m seeing from Qua Russaw. 👀 Watch him execute the surf technique. He keeps his shoulders square, making Malik Washington to throw the swing. Once the ball is released, Qua gets flat back outside and chases it down for just a 2-yard gain. THIS is why the Buckeyes coveted him in the portal. You can coach technique, but you can’t coach this kind of athleticism. #BuckeyeFilmBreakdown
