BIGGEST ISSUE IN OL COACHING: WE DONT KNOW HOW TO TEACH OUR PLAYERS TO STAY SQUARE. YOU CAN TELL THEM BUT FEW COACH THEM. CAN YOU. THATS THE KEY- ***** IN A NUTSHELL !!!!!

FACTS 👏👏👏👏👏
I don’t disagree with this. I don’t think he’s saying just line up and play cover 3. But if you get really good at cover 3 and showing it different ways to disguise and all those are the good defenses. Better to be elite at 10 things than average at 20.

Kyle Shanahan says great defenses shouldn't have to trick their opponents “Coverages are coverages. Fronts are fronts. It’s very rare that a team just does something nobody else does. They just do it better.” “You try to find ways to attack it, and you can always come up with some new ways in the offseason, but usually a new way has to do with putting a different player in a different spot and finding a better matchup.” “Seattle is pretty much the same scheme with a lot of the same players, especially at the pivotal spots. They’re into what they do. There’s no reason for them to change.” “They don’t have to trick too many people. They’re very sound at what they do, and they’re very good at what they do. They make you line up and play.” “It’s similar to how we were in 2019. Everybody knew what we were doing, but we were really good at it, we had really good players doing it, and we did it over and over again.” “That’s the best way to build a defense. You don’t have to get lucky with calls or put guys in risky positions.”

This is exactly why NFL coaches don’t give out paper playbooks anymore lol We used to have staffers at Pitt and JMU look through hotel trash cans before we left on gamedays so this never happened
Update: It was real. 1st six plays of the first half and 1st two of the second half (then picked off)

A lot of what’s wrong with OL development is coaching. But some of it is mentality. A DL should never feel this comfortable talking to five 300+ lb men like this. We’ve coached too much of the violence and mentality out of OL play and replaced it with nonsense like “the double under.” 😒 I LOVE Dexter Lawrence’s energy. GREAT player. But couldn’t be me.
Dexter Lawrence terrorized the entire Texans offense both physically AND mentally all day last Sunday 😭😭 🎥 @Bengals

I still remember my first one no 🧢😂😂just say yes sir and chalk up to the game
All college assistants have gotten this chewing on the sideline before 😂 you just have to say “yes sir” and keep it moving, anything else makes it worse 😩

Rueben Bain’s rush angle is the issue here! Too many reps it’s taking 5/6 steps before he’s even engaging the OT! Unless you have Nik Bonito, Trey Hendrickson, Micah Parsons get off, you can’t use this “looping” angle every time. He really didn’t give himself a chance to win many rushes and playing against a really good tackle, it was an easy day for Mims! It’s only week 1 and knowing Bain’s obsession with football, he will make adjustments and he will get better!

DON’T CONFUSE UNUSUAL WITH WRONG. 💯 1000% AGREE I LOVE this. Those wide splits may look dangerous, but there’s a reason behind them. What looks like a HUGE hole can be a HUGE advantage.
Mike Leach intentionally created HUGE holes in his offensive line. His linemen would align with unusually wide splits. It looked dangerous. There was a method to it. ⬇️

For the O-line junkies, #Texans GM Nick Caserio went longgggg on evaluating offensive linemen. Question by @kimydavis
