Von Miller says his Super Bowl MVP performance happened because he stopped playing for himself “At that moment in time, I wasn’t playing for myself. When you’re doing stuff for somebody else, whether it’s mom, dad, son, teammate, girlfriend, wife, when you’re trying to do something for somebody else, it’s just that extra added level of motivation. Like, I’m not going to let this person down.” “If it was just me, you know what? Next time I’ll do it. But at that moment in time, it was Peyton Manning’s last leg, Wade Phillips’ last leg, DeMarcus was close to his last leg, and I really wanted to win a championship for those guys. It was never about me.” “I was young enough. I’m thinking I’m always going to have an opportunity to win a Super Bowl. But this one right here, I have to do it for them. That mindset of looking outside of myself, thinking I have to do it for somebody else, it brought that out of me.” “I knew no matter what, I’m going to do it for my guys. When you’re doing it for somebody else, you’re going to remember that play. You’re going to work hard. You’re going to run to the ball.” “When you make that promise to your brothers, there was no way that I was going to fail if I’m doing it for somebody else.”
