Some relationships in this profession go far beyond basketball. But those relationships are built on trust—trust that comes from vulnerability and walking through challenges together.
Mateo is living proof of what can happen when two people choose to believe in each other. 🦬
Mateo Esmeraldo says Kevin Carroll was the only coach in the country that believed in him when he entered the portal in 2024. He’s repaid him by staying at Lipscomb when he could’ve left.

Always leave my visits with Taylor and Spencer feeling inspired. Two of the very best there is in terms of building people and teams!
Great catching up with @Coach_Carroll talking Honest, Hungry, Humble culture at @LipscombMBB and learning from one of the best when it comes to pouring into athletes Lance Brown with WhoUWith ministries! Good day in Nashville!
Couldn’t be more grateful for all the lessons @durdencoach taught me as a young man. They say “more is caught than taught,” and I had a front row seat to learn from the best on how to be a transformational coach. Not sure I can repay you, but am doing my best to pay it forward.
