Patriots “Core 4” special teams report, Week 6 (highlighting players whose primary contributions come in the kicking game - charted based on first units to take the field):   4️⃣ units: S Mike Brown, LB Erick Hunter, TE Cameron Latu, LB Darius Muasau, LB Namdi Obiazor, S Brenden Schooler   3️⃣ units: S Elliott Davison, S Jaylen Reed   2️⃣ units: RB Corey Kiner, OLB Elijah Ponder, CB Kindle Vildor   1️⃣ unit: LB Christian Elliss (PP/PC), OLB Gabe Jacas (PP/PC), CB Marcus Jones (PR), DT Leonard Taylor III (PR), WR Kyle Williams (KR)   NOTES: Special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer (pictured) and assistant Tom Quinn get a tip of the cap from Mike Vrabel for having the kickoff coverage unit flying around as TE Cameron Latu, among others, had big hits…Brenden Schooler served up a reminder of his impact with a team-high 3 tackles…S Elliott Davison’s work in the kicking game, essentially taking over for CB Charles Woods as Woods plays more on defense, earned him a spot on the 53-man roster from the practice squad…Big spark from RB Corey Kiner as a kickoff returner (3-88-29.3 avg.) in addition to kickoff coverage work…One thing to monitor is how injuries across the roster force players such as OLB Elijah Ponder and LB Christian Elliss into expanded roles in the kicking game, which adds to their injury risk.
