Thanks Griff! Means a lot coming from a giant like you. One of the most enthusiastic, innovative, and humble individuals that I have has the opportunity to meet and learn from. Looking forward to connecting again soon 👊🏼
Joe Mangiameli from Twins presented how we train, how to get the most out of our training, purpose in training. Very smart dude.

The numbers from Fall are in! It appears that increasing the use of a modified kickstand with runners on base WILL increase overall run prevention at the high school level. roguebaseballperformance.com…

On the left: Elias Diaz (-14.1 Framing Runs) On the right: Tyler Flowers (15.4 Framing Runs) In regards to timing...what is the major difference between the two? Hint...focus on what is happening prior to the catch 1/4👇

The best pitch framers initial move occurs much later into ball flight. A later move allows these players consistently create efficient+direct angles to the catch from their load. Moving later does not hinder your ability to “beat” the ball, but actually does the opposite. 3/4👇

Too often an early “move” is associated with trying to be early to the catch/“beat” the ball, yet in actuality it forces the catcher into inefficient pathways + angles that make it extremely difficult to consistently be “on-time” + ”on-plane” for the catch. 4/4✅

Realmuto + Barnhart are two guys who saw significant increases in their receiving from 2018 to 2019. 2018: Realmuto Framing Runs: -0.4 Barnhart Framing Runs: -11.5 2019: Realmuto Framing Runs: 10.6 (increase of 10.2 FRs) Barnhart Framing Runs: 9.4 (increase of 20.9 FRs) 1/7👇

A lot of focus is placed on manipulation + how the C “moves” ball AFTER the catch. Often overlooked factor that has a major influence on a C’s ability to optimize the bottom of the strikezone is how they move TO the catch. Major diff. between the best vs. worst in the game 1/4👇

Worst receivers in MLB (2019): 1. Diaz (-13.6 Framing Runs) 2. Castillo (-10.4 Framing Runs) 3. Wolters (-8.0 Framing Runs) 4. Contreras (-7.8 Framing Runs) (Clips are all from RHP-SL, to RHH, in Zone 9) 3/4👇

While there are a number of diff. factors at play, the one commonality amongst elite receivers is their ability to create efficient angles/pathways that allow the pocket to remain underneath/on-plane with the ball for the duration of the move TO the catch. 4/4✅
