Over the past 7 years, our head coach, DC and myself has put 160 kids in college. The question that I get the most after saying this is “how many went D1?” While there have been many, most have not. Some of yall need to hear this. THE BIGGEST OFFER ISN’T ALWAYS THE BEST OFFER! Parents and players, understand something: Just because a school is Division I doesn’t mean it’s the best opportunity for YOU. Too many young men are chasing logos, social media attention, and bragging rights instead of chasing DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION, and OPPORTUNITY. College football has changed! THE TRANSFER PORTAL: You’re no longer just competing against freshmen. You’re competing against experienced 21-year-old transfers who are physically developed and ready to contribute immediately. NIL & MONEY: College football is a business. Programs are investing heavily in proven talent. That scholarship offer doesn’t guarantee you’re a priority. PLAYING TIME: What’s better? Sitting on a D1 sideline for three years or becoming an All-American at a D2, D3, NAIA, or FCS program? Game reps, production, and development MATTER! EGO: Some players would rather SAY they’re D1 than actually PLAY college football. Stop making four-year decisions for four days of Instagram attention! EDUCATION: If football ended tomorrow, would you still want to attend that school? Your degree and financial future matter! And understand this: NFL scouts evaluate talent beyond Division I! I’m NOT telling players to turn down D1 opportunities. I’m telling them to evaluate the entire picture. Parents, don’t let pride dictate your child’s future. Players, don’t let social media determine your destination. Coaches, our responsibility is to help young men find the RIGHT opportunity, not simply celebrate the biggest offer.
